Ad-Aware or Spybot?
I had Ad-Aware, and downloaded Spybot Search-and-Destroy; Spybot informed me that some of its services are incompatible with Ad-Aware, so I deleted both temporarily, until I got your take on this.
Since I can only have ONE, which do you all recommend? :-?

I have them both and run them both. When you start Spybot it will give you a message that sounds like a warning. All it means is that when it searches your system it might pick up on the Adaware files that tell Adaware what to look for. Not to worry - I've never had a problem. Just click ok and proceed.

I downloaded and installed Spybot after I believe it was pawlee who mentioned it. I ran it a few times and each time it 'hung' at the same point for at least twenty minutes before I decided to stop it... I have since uninstalled it.
As for Ad-Aware, I run it every few days and it has apparently been doing it's job.

Well, I am definitely not in the same class as some of you, who've grown up with cybertoys (remember, this old goat has only had one for four years)!
However, I did a sweep of all three Desktops, and cleaned them up nicely. Since I'm the ONLY one in the house that does the whole shebang (Delete History, Temporary Internet Files and Offline Content, Delete Cookies, clean up hard disk, defragment the hard drive, and Ad-Aware), it does get time consuming, but worth the aggravation (especially cleaning up after coppertop!).
