My area refuses to be just snow. It’s a solid snow and sleet making roads pretty bad.

Still snow. This may be changing the profile to allow less sleet, more snow maybe?

Nothing behind this band currently this far south so may have break to warm things a bit. At home in Lindale precip likely hangs around longer so temps should hold 32/33 there until later.

The break in precip is what I'm most worried about now, not good since we're up to 36F now and have always been worried about temps.

Same concern here. Lindale may fair OK but Longview and Tyler need the precip to redevelop fast.
We are more reliant on the Gulf low than areas NW which are getting this from the upper low.

Wild thing is, it's heavy enough and clumpy enough it's sticking to the roads!

Interstates really started to ice over from I-30 north in Metroplex, rough evening commute if this freezing line stays where it is

I thought short range models had a good handle. It was always looking like more snow across areas further north along the river and a battle line I-20 north. Seems to be the way it's playing out right now. Think the key is watching the afternoon precip to see precip types then IMO.

Not seeing a lot of freezing rain reports to the south out there. It was either rain/sleet mix at the beginning or sleet/snow ->snow, or rain.

We have enjoyed a nice, relaxing cold rain here in Maypearl. Alas, we are a bit too far South.

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but the daily snowfall record at DFW is 2.4". Maybe there's a legit chance?

Does anyone know how "official" snowfall measurements are made? Do they clear the deck periodically to account for compression, melting, or a changeover? For instance if DFW comes in at .5" this morning, then it rains a bit, and then we get another 2" this evening with the main event are we getting the full 2.5"?

Light precip has started in Longview. Mostly rain, but a few ice pellets mixed in at times in the heavier stuff. Hope it can start cooling the air.

The 14z HRRR shows the freezing line staying pretty stable through today. If you are getting snow or snow/sleet now, then there is a chance you stay that way throughout the event.

Still has 3-6pm all rain but it continues to have a difficult time with the upper level temps

Yeah, it bumps the warm nose up into DFW during that time frame. We'll see what happens, and the warm nose is our wintertime nemesis!

Still dry as a rock down south of y'all. Might as well go make a dirt angel

Snow in Texas, 8th wonder of the World

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

The lower temps have made the difference for sticking.

Yes, the Gulf of America force is very strong with this one.

I would guess a half inch or so out there now. Will take a photo later. This is much more than I expected by this point.

Back to more sleet, but still flakes. Road is solid white, no melting yet.
