Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
Enjoy it north TX! Really looking forward to our first good rain event of 2025 in south central TX later today! This event should be very beneficial for the Hill Country and areas west of IH-35, where they've largely missed out on the rain events for several months now.

I thought short range models had a good handle. It was always looking like more snow across areas further north along the river and a battle line I-20 north. Seems to be the way it's playing out right now. Think the key is watching the afternoon precip to see precip types then IMO.
They are 1-2 F too warm. Almost all snow across Metroplex now, even short range had mix frz rain/sleet at this time
Well, I don't know if I would call that "beating them like a drum" was my point when you're talking about being off by one degree here or there (tough ask). This was always a battle zone further south you went.

Tulsa was just saying yesterday how hard it is to get a snowstorm with a south wind

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but the daily snowfall record at DFW is 2.4". Maybe there's a legit chance?
Does anyone know how "official" snowfall measurements are made? Do they clear the deck periodically to account for compression, melting, or a changeover? For instance if DFW comes in at .5" this morning, then it rains a bit, and then we get another 2" this evening with the main event are we getting the full 2.5"?
It would be 2.5". Similar with rain. If it rains 1/2 inch in the morning then that rain dries up and another 2" fall in the afternoon, it's 2.5" total rain for the day.

Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
Back to huge snowball flakes in north FW after a short switch back to sleet. If this continues for another big we may easily hit an inch. Honestly might already be there.
Every time this happens my temp drops after it goes up to 31, so back to 30.

31.8 here and sleeting/snowing. Road is barely covered. Gonna venture out shortly for a delivery once the precip backs off a little

It's been all snow here for most of the event, neighborhood streets are covered, no melting.

Already 4+ inches here. If this doesn’t stop until 11pm like the models show, we’re well on our way to 10”.

Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
We have definitely received more than was forecast for us out here. Was supposed to be some freezing rain, sleet and maybe a dusting of snow and I measured 3 inches so far and still falling.

Looks like rain in Waxahachie and Granbury per official reporting sites so it's basically sleet/snow mix and then all snow north of I-20 based on reports. So definitely your battle zone within that region. Pretty cool.

Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
If we could only stay near freezing for that next batch of precip east of San Angelo. That looks like some heavier returns, but prob coincides with the warmer temps that have been forecast for the afternoon (35-36). Crossing my fingers

I can confirm all rain west of Waxahachie, roughly 25 miles south of I-20.

There is no battle ground near i20. I live in north Fort Worth and it has been solid snow since 9am.

We’re nearing 2 inches already. I think OUN will need to extend the winter storm warning further northwest. If this keeps up 4+ inches would not surprise me.
