I thought short range models had a good handle. It was always looking like more snow across areas further north along the river and a battle line I-20 north. Seems to be the way it's playing out right now. Think the key is watching the afternoon precip to see precip types then IMO.

There is no battle ground near i20. I live in north Fort Worth and it has been solid snow since 9am.

Isn't that north of I-20 then? Rain just south as confirmed by official reporting sites and another forum poster just now, sleet with some snow mix in between and all snow north of I-20. The point I was making is this was always going to be a degree or two separation once you got into the DFW metro. In others close call either way. That's your battle zone or whatever you want to call it my friend.

I think I-30 north was more where the more sleet/snow line was predicted, I-20 battleground.

I am in north Fort Worth as well, and we are well north of I-20, even north of 820. I have had some sleet mix back in at times, but mostly been snow.

Likely over an inch now, maybe 1.5. Hate to go measure and mess up the perfect snow but our puppies have gone out to roll in it anyway. Lol

It's been snowing pretty hard here since 8:15 am...all snow no sleet. Just bought a new house up here and loving having such a nice snow day.

*PS long time lurker; thanks for all the great info*

We've been toggling back and forth between moderate sleet and occasional snow here in North Dallas. Very pretty when it's snowing. Every time that the radar shows a break heading up from the SW it seems to fill in just as it gets into Dallas County. And looks like the bigger wave is slowly creeping in from the west. Temp has been pegged at 31.1F for about the last 2 hours. Everything coated here...maybe 0.5" total with quite a bit of it being sleet. Love the pictures from Collin/Denton Counties!

I just traveled from the I20/820 area to Lake Worth and from DT FTW north the roads including hwy are caked in slush of at least 1.5” or better, it's solid coverage.

For the I20 area it was sleeting pretty hard with big snow flakes mix in. Roads are slick and bridges are covered in sleet and snow. Ground was white and everything was sticking.

I'm staying with my 3-5” for much of the metroplex, but from I30 north that will probably be the sweet area with 5”+

All roads are completely covered and it's still coming.....

If this was not supposed to be the main show how much are we supposed to get?

After 2 hours of solid snow in Sherman, we measured exactly 3.0 inches. 1.5 inch/hour. I’ll take it!!!!

15z HRRR has a 1" QPF axis running through DFW. We might see some 8"+ totals out here in Collin County with temps hovering around 30F.

Radar shows sleet is mixing NW of Corpus Christi. That’s insane down there lol

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

This is what I'm wondering too. Supposedly the main snow show was going to be this evening and overnight. I wonder if that has changed, or if we're seeing an over perform of the precipitation now, with that show still expected tonight.

It's mostly been because temps are not 33-34 but 30-31 especially north of I-20/I-30. It's sleet when things lighten up but snow when heavy qpf comes through. Another big batch is coming into the metroplex. N/NW areas have seen good radar returns all morning.
