Temp already cooled to 38 after the rain moved in. Not bad!

Turned to rain for a bit with some sleet, now snow again finally. Definitely more mixing during the afternoon.

Curse of the urban core? I'm on a line ENE of you over in Collin County, and we are heavy sleet mixed with snow.

So are we really still expecting another round of heavy stuff later? It seems to be tapering down a little bit where I'm at currently. Getting some ice pellets.

Not much precip here yet so temps have made it to the mid 30s, they seem to be settling back down a tad now though. 34 now in Lindale. A bit of sleet and some rain showers is all we have had.
Models seem to maintain a slight warm nose until tomorrow tomorrow morning, hoping we can get a touch more cooling in mid levels so we can go snow while we have good forcing later today.

Yes, much heavier....latest short range guidance showing higher snow totals. Kuchera estimates for future snow in addition to what you currently have on the ground. Majority of this falling after 8pm this evening!

Pivotal (without the sleet). Look at those totals up in Oklahoma and Arkansas. GEFS was on to something. Seems like EPS was a bit too far south on this one.

Well, the snow band just came in, and the snowflakes got big! Some were quarter sized!

It's funny, living in North Texas for almost 50 years I think I've finally seen what a real "wintry mix" looks like. It seems like historically our storms are more of a single precip type or maybe a changeover and once it changes that's it. Today's been various combinations of sleet, snow, freezing rain changing intermittently between them and sometimes combinations of them all at once. Pretty cool, really. Temp has been bouncing around between 31.2 and 32.2 since mid-morning. Excited for the big show tonight and hopefully a good CFP game too.

Here in N FTW have already surpassed 2.5” of snow without the sleet with more coming.

Euro definitely over did the precipitation amounts, but nailed the system and the dynamics.

Our snow has changed to sleet/rain mix for the last hour or so. Measured about 4.5 inches in the backyard of snow before the sleet/rain mix started.
