Yep. Been mostly rain for 1-2 hours. We don’t have kids at home to be disappointed anymore. Otherwise I’d be being bombarded with “why is it raining?”

Literally just got asked this earlier.

How many inches there in Tioga? Probably around 5" here just north of you.

Radar showing rain on all of Dallas and FTW proper and points south, then a rain blob that encompasses a big area north of 820 and east of 35, northwards up through Denton proper and everything west of a line southwest from Denton to Garland. Must be the warm nose. Snow all around outside of that parameter

So wait it's going to end and not snow all night now, no more Grand Finale?

Local mets will be on at 10 to tell us how lucky we got. :spam:

We were led to believe there would be another wave later as the main event. Instead we had this persistent precip shield that seemed to go in reverse on precip type.

We still have our snowiest periods ahead, anyway.

00z FWD sounding still shows a bit of a warm nose. HRRR says it holds on for another hour or two.

I don’t think I can recall a winter storm with such large areas of such high reflectivity on radar before, shame it’s all falling as rain. I keep looking at it, imagining how insane it would have been if all this qpf fell as snow. 2010 would be outclassed.

My numbers looking to bust, that transition is not budging. Should have known chasing that switch is never easy.

Yes i got 5” throughout the day with mainly snow until about 2-3 when switched to sleet/ snow….. then sleet… then just rain. Siting on that transition back to snow.

I suppose it's fitting many portions of DFW would get snow on the anniversary of the January 9th snowfall of 2011. I believe we got about 4-5" in Little Elm this date 14 years ago. I sure wish East Texas counties could have lucked out on this snowfall but there's still a whole lot of winter left. I hope everyone that got some today and gets some overnight enjoys it!

It was a solid call, and even FWD started trying to play catch up, only to have the warm nose pull the rug out from under them as well.

The warm nose is holding on, and as of yet, haven't really seen any mesoscale banding setup on radar.
