There’s another band of light precip SSW of Abilene according to KMAF radar. It might strengthen as the storm lifts to the east. Don’t get gloomy yet! :P

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

And I'm probably one of the few who like the cold temps too. I despise the heat that summer brings. Lived all my life in the South, grew up in NOLA and I would love to move to a more temperate climate. And that's why we're seriously looking to retire in Colorado Springs.

I spent yesterday trying to prepare my kids not to see snow until tonight. So, the unexpected heavy snow this morning was like Christmas to them, and they had a blast playing in it. I thought that was setting us up for the big one, but for any other setup, we would all be thrilled with a couple of hours and 3" of big fat flakes.

I'd be thrilled if I had 3" of snow at all today, best I got was about an inch of rain-soaked slush.

This is interesting, didn't realize you could identify the transition line this way but it makes sense now that I know. Too bad that most of the precip is east of that line.

You can see the 850/700mb front by the wind surge just west of Tarrant county. The area to the southwest of qpf should match it and grow. Lets see if we can pull this through!

Based on SPC Mesoanalysis, the best 850 frontogenesis should be overtaking the 925 soon, and that could kick off a heavy band of snow.

Looking at updated point forecast, FWD is still going with 3-5 additional across most of Collin County.

Feeling the same way, but I will say, the 01z HRRR has a very accurate depiction of what the radar looked like at 8pm and shows enough backbuilding to lay down a couple inches in the metro before the precip ends. Not all hope is lost, but it is a reduction from the totals it was showing a couple of hours ago.

01z shows an additional 0.5"+ of QPF for DFW. Depending on transition time that jives with FWD saying 2-4" across DFW and 3-5" in the NE burbs. That would start pushing some 6-8" totals with what has already fallen.

It’s been a long interesting day for everyone. I can say I have been pleasantly surprised by the snow we had out here early this morning with the biggest snow flakes I’ve seen in the last 3 + years as we enjoyed close to 4 inches of snow after expecting a little sleet and maybe a good dusting.it was a blast watching the grandkids be able to sled on one of the hills we have here.Priceless as they say…

I still believe there will be a change and decent burst of snow for the DFW folks before it ends, fingers crossed

Picked up right at 4”. We were only suppose to get a dusting to an inch or two per all of the forecasts I saw. It definitely over performed up this way.
