Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
Icon says -34 for Denver and a winter storm for us. This might be a wild arctic blast after all.

I googled it and that would be a record temp for Denver. Pretty wild and with that HP sitting in Colorado and a winter storm I don’t even want to know how cold it would get in NTX.

ICON is low 20s at DFW and teens in West Texas before snow moves in.

I can see why the icon is breaking out precip in this panel, the 500mb system clearly digs far enough south to tap pacific moisture. And with temps in the teens, I imagine those snowfall ratios would be quite impressive. Wouldn’t take much qpf to produce some decent totals.

Haven’t posted much but I’ve been checking a couple times a day, pretty concerned about an ice storm down here.
Oh look, the 540 thickness line is south of DFW this time

0z GFS though isn't ICON you can see it has shifted westward with the trough (this weekend.) Beyond that it still has the trough progressive.

Just for that early system. It hasn't caved yet for the brutal cold, modest cold but brunt is locked up in Midwest.

GFS looks like the outlier at this point. The position of the HP on the Euro and ICON were nearly identical.

Based on tonight’s runs, the GFS is quickly becoming an outlier to the rest of the guidance

Yeah, CMC is a tad dry, but very cold. It would be closer to the Euro. GFS vs the world, it better not get this wrong or we will bash it until 2026.
