That 14.4 inches is right over my house. Ok, so, that would absolutely be awesome and horrific at the same time. Hoping these models pull back a little over the next few days. 3, maybe 4 inches would be plenty. We just don't know how to handle that much.

Word. I was thinking the same thing. FV3 and GEM and 12km NAM et al are only a day or so out from picking up on this. Give me the mesos and high-res as the time condenses.

The fact that we could possibly see more snow than a place like New York city has seen all year is comical

Houston 24 hr record is 20 inches... It wasn't that long ago when places just south of Houston got 10-15 inches.. So rare but it happens..
We had 5-8 inches just east of Houston in the mid 2000,s or so..

Interesting because I’ve heard a lot about correlations between hurricane activity and winter weather. Beryl was unusual because it went right through the heart of Houston. The latest models show this snowstorm doing the exact same thing.

Not a done deal yet. This is still a razor close call. Probably won't know for sure until late Saturday/ Sunday.

Seems like the pattern is a bit faster now though on the more recent model runs? If so, then there’s less time for snow to accumulate except where the bands set up. Earlier today HTX NWS had more periods of winter precip in the forecast periods for Houston. So I think I’m right on that because now it’s only Monday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon.

It hasn’t changed. If anything, the window for snowfall has extended. NWS added snow chances in Houston starting early afternoon on Monday. Previously, it had delayed everything until Tuesday and ended it overnight into Wednesday. Same timeframe for snowfall, roughly, now maybe a little longer, just shifted to start earlier and end a bit earlier than before.

Not going to lie I might be a tad envious if Houston gets big snow and I only had half an inch in this last storm. Hopefully there are more chances or this one can over perform and push some moisture north like this last one did.

I live 50 miles north of Houston and the kids would be very happy with 2-3 inches... 4 to 6 and epic snowman pictures to last a lifetime!

If you look at 6z GFS 500mb the trough orientation once it starts kicking out to Texas is starting to resemble the Canadian the past few runs, putting aside how the surface looks.

6Z GFS now onboard with a 12" band from Cleveland to Jasper. Light snow up to I20.
84h NAM does not look good but not yet to that model's sweet spot yet.

I figured this page would be popping this morning. Feels like I am in the twilight zone and everyone is gone. LOL.

Getting our rest. This weekend I’m sure most of us will be long hours watching model runs and chatting here.

It will. I'm happy for all the southern folks getting their turn. I'll be tuned in as Houston and New Orleans gets buried .

I am about an hour from Houston to the east. My local met this morning said we could get 4-7 inches in my area. Of course things change and one thing is for sure things are about to shut down. Ugh.

Let everyone wake up. If 12Z has this it will start popping. Also this thread is fairly DFW heavy but the SE TX folks are going to start becoming invested. Right now if I'm along and S of I10 I'm still nervous this becomes a mix vs snow.

Yup, I recall riding in the school bus down the big hill from my junior high school was quite an adventure that day.

I'll be off the board for a few days, my other grandmother just passed away this morning. She was about to be 99.
