Safe bet if it is as widespread and as heavy as being indicated it will be a bench mark historical weather event for a century or MORE!

Okay, I'm calling it! It's forecast time for the girlfriends kids, co-workers, and family. Man, if this one busts out, it'll be way worse than the big gulp getting thrown at Nicholas Cage!

Safe bet if it is as widespread and as heavy as being indicated it will be a bench mark historical weather event for a century or MORE!

I also have a feeling the precipitation shield moves further north as we get closer to the event. I’m not a meteorologist and won’t pretend to be, just a Winter Weather fan but keeping up with winter weather forecast in the south for almost 35 years, if it shows up in the 7-day, the models often lose it 5-6 days before the event then find it, as the case with this potential event. Hoping this ends up being one of those storms we look back on and say wow. I told my 15 year old son, this could be his ‘93.

Latest GFS still looking great, especially for SETX but extending into LA. Models seem to be going away from the ice storm idea and going all snow. Would love for that to hold. We are threading the needle here so hopefully things can just stay like this. I would normally get excited but I feel like I need models to be showing this all the way to Saturday or even Sunday to feel confident.

Looking like an incredible set up for everyone across the Deep South.

It has been so long, especially for coastal Alabama and Florida. Hopefully models are locking in!

The only issue I've seen in the past is the Gulf low trending too far north and pushing the rain line further north. Do want to see that for the coast

I am rooting for you down south. These do have a tendency to shift north so I worry that the I10 corridor ends up more of a mix. That shift would be great for I20 corridor that missed the last storm though. This air mass is so cold I didn't think many will have to deal with 34F rain but just hoping for snow on the coast and not icy.

Very similar to other models. A 6 inch band from Houston to Central LA. Widespread snow from Central Texas all the way across the south. Some ice on the coast with heavier ice for South Central Texas and North Florida.
