There was documented 10” amounts in the Hammond/Pontchatoula area from family and friends with a tape measure shown stuck in the snow!Jag95 wrote:otowntiger wrote:. When did New Orleans get 8” of snow???Jag95 wrote:
Well I updated my post from 'historic' to 'big' so as to not be so carried away because they have had 8 inches over there before, but 12 inches would be historic.
Way back in 1895, but I remember not that long ago where the north shore got 8" via a freak ULL. Video's on YouTube, at least it used to be. We didn't even get a flake over here.
<edit> 2008. This link says 4-6 inches, but I remember seeing reports up to 8 on the north shore.

Re: Deep South Winter 2024-2025
The last time I’ve seen such model consistency over *days* now for a Southern snowstorm?
1993. This could be a generational storm for the Deep South.
Meanwhile, 06z Euro has my Mobtown probabilities of snowfall greater than an inch up over 70% now.

Within 100 hours and models all show accumulating snow for the Florida Panhandle and an ice storm from Tallahassee to Jacksonville to Charleston. Wonder if the recent Big Bend hurricanes will mitigate possible tree damage in that area since weak limbs likely have been pruned by hurricane winds.
I am hoping that but not confident. Probably in Perry, Madison and Lake City. Tallahassee we only got grazed. None of our trees know how to handle ice. I’m expecting epic tree carnage if we get ice.

Y’all have the most trees of any city I’ve ever been to. And I’m from New Orleans.

Re: Deep South Winter 2024-2025
ICON continues to be the most suppressed out of the four. Euro/GFS/CMC most bullish. Of course once we get into the NAM range that's a whole different story. It correctly sniffed out mainly sleet for NC last week while every other model showed snow for most areas.

12z suite starting. Icon going. Let's see if it continues the less suppressed like it did at 06z

Yep. Coming back north a bit. 6z runs other than the icon were a little more suppressed. It will be interesting to see if the north trends have stopped.

The Rgem is the higher resolution Canadian so I am hoping the 12z Canadian brings that snow line all the way down to the coast

Yep. So much for those northern shifts. Looks like those have stopped for now.
