Hoping it ends up being a historic event for all of us in the Deep South and Gulf Coast. We just have to enjoy the time leading up to the event almost as much as the event itself because it’s gonna go by so fast. It’s just not often we get to
see days and days of forecasting with this kind of potential before an event. It might be years or decades before we see it again. We’ve had snow events over the last 30 years but I have not seen this kind of potential since 1993.

The idea is there and it’s been very consistent for days now. We’re rapidly closing in on the event. A right smart of snow (as my grandmother might have said) and undoubtedly someone on the Coast is going to get a heavier precip band or a snowburst, which will really drive up the totals.

The NBM has Mobile at 3 inches

Tallahassee is right on the edge of the snow/ice line currently. NWS is forecasting mostly ice converting to snow for the last hour. We will get crippling levels of ice if that forecast holds. I hope the models showing mostly snow are correct.

Here is the 12z FV3 Hi-res showing east Texas and south Louisiana getting the bulk of the snow. As everyone has been saying, it’s impossible to know just exactly where the heaviest bands will set up so some areas will have more or less than depicted.

I like it. Now let’s pull a little more north with the moisture without getting too warm on the coast. Is that too much to ask? :ggreen:

Here is the ICON 12z snowfall totals. General 4” from east Texas to south MS with heavier amounts in southern LA and tapering off a little to 2-3” in s AL and nw FL.

According to models, I’m solidly in the 2-4 inch range. I will gladly take that much. However, I was getting nervous with southern trends that it would end up south of here. Someone is going to get a huge payday from this, I feel. Somewhere in South Central Louisiana could end up with a foot.

When do we think we get our first Winter Storm Warnings? I bet it won’t be long, perhaps this evening?
