MPING report of ice pellets in Conroe and freezing rain in the woodlands, so it’s conceivable you’re seeing correctly

Nothing reaching ground here but I wonder if it is around Sulphur Springs with the heavier returns. Still 6 hours until NWS even starts our chances so ahead of schedule.

Yeah those reports make me laugh sometimes because anyone can make a report that has access to the radar app. For example, you've got a few drizzle reports, a few freezing drizzle reports with temps above freezing (lol), but also a few sleet and a snow report all being reported within a 5-10 miles radius in north Houston within the last 5 minutes. Pick one? Lol

Need to go back to the old skywarn system where only certified/trained skywarn folks get to report. Use to be if you put out a false report you lost your certification/ability to report.

I find it super valuable as does the NWS. Yes you get junk data but more data points is always going to be better. Yes some will be junk but it is still important.

mPING is a good way to keep track of some of these reports.

I was just driving around Round Rock and Cedar Park. Temps back below freezing. It does have that moist feel outside in the air but nothing falling yet. At least here.

Yeah still nothing falling here even though it looks like it on radar. Maybe a little mist here and there.

Am about 50 minutes north of you and getting some light snow/graupel. Barely visible unless you’re standing out there with hawk eyes lol

Dallas county is covered it's closing in. Part of it is also the radar can see better far away at the mid levels. But our dewpoint is very low, not sure any of it will make it to the ground.

Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 what dew point means, especially when it comes to snow? I have a little knowledge from what I have picked up here but I don’t know exactly. Even a link would be great.

Yeah I just thought maybe that’s due to the drier low level moisture.

I didn’t expect anything so any flurries would be a bonus.
