It isn't just spring. If you roll forward Pacific change years (1989, 2013, 2014, 2021) etc, where the upper pattern buckles conventional thinking and shifts, summers are quite often cool too.

I'll take rain during the week with nice weekend weather. 0.60", 0.00", 0.16", 0.41", and 0.96" (today) over the last 5 days. Nothing too heavy. Upper 60's to mid-70's this weekend into next week. I would like to see snow but I know it doesn't happen every year here.

I am excited that severe weather season is drawing near (from a weather weenie/chaser perspective... not a property owner/death/injury perspective [you'd think this would be understood on a weather forum, but it never fails that you have to explain it - not to mention we can't control it]).

One other thing that hasnt been mentioned yet but it appears we may see a significant split of the polar vortex in the 2nd week of february, not a stretch but a split, it is my understanding that a split is more significant than a stretch, but someone can correct me on that

I ended up with over 2 inches, pretty impressive for January. The little creek out of the neighborhood was full. Ready for a shift back to winter in a bit, but it will be nice to warm up for a bit.

You guys in Oklahoma will be closer to the cold anomalies in the north, the bust potential for warm/cold depending where it settles will be high early on.

I just saw a flock of geese flying North in the Flying V.

Winter is over, onto Spring!

Something big is brewing end of week 2 into week 3....this is a classic MJO Phase 7, Arctic cold air build then dam burst setup as it moves into phase 8-1-2 (overwhelming the country). Winter isn't close to being over!!!!

Don't put it past geese to do some trolling of humans with their flight directions.
