I was sitting outside enjoying this nice cold weather with a cup of hot chocolate , before I was rudely interrupted by a baby possum jumping off our back fence and landing on my head, though it quickly landed on the ground and went back under a hole in the fence, lovely cold weather and a random possum encounter that scared the living soul of out me haha

Wow! I bet. Did you manage to keep the hot chocolate from spilling all over.

That's an awesome story! We have an opossum that hangs out with our cats and eats their food. They will fight other cats, but this opossum is a welcome guest lol

Probably with major input from Steve McCauley and Troy Dungan.

Is Troy with us still? Honestly Tegna has shredded News 8 so badly I’ve given up on them completely and flipped over to Rick Mitchell on NBC5 (and David Finfrock when he pops in).

Troy is still with us. He appears in a local commercial from time to time. I'll catch WFAA from time to time but NBC 5 has been my go to since 1984 with the trifecta of Harold Taft, David Finfrock, and Scott Chesner. Troy was another I watched quite a bit before he retired in 2005 or 2006. I enjoyed Ron Jackson on FOX4 as well growing up in the 80s. IIRC channel 4 was a CBS affiliate back in the day and channel 11 was a local station called the "Super Ones".

Nope, this unfortunately looks like a dry arctic front, too much cold is the problem here, also doesnt help that the shortwave is ejecting too fast

I’ll take the dry cold over 80 degrees any day in February!

GFS continues to be warmer with each run. Question is will it score the win on temps too.

Well i take that back, the CMC still is a little slower with the shortwave ejection and still produces wintry weather in north and central texas

Texas weather never makes much sense to me. We get a "Dry cold" from the same system that's cold and it snows/sleets/blizzards in other parts of the country. And how do you have a warm nose to cause freezing rain, when it's 15 degrees at the surface, seems that should be sleet, not frz rain.

Man if only that arctic air didnt move out as fast as it came in, models are showing a 2nd piece of energy thats forming into a coastal low off brownsville right as the arctic air tries to depart, GFS had precipitation in the mid 30’s, timing sucks though with the cold air moving out

The PNA is confusing the models right now as it is actively defying forecasts

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Never say Never with weather! Because ANYTHING is possible!

GFS keeps
showing a coastal low developing near brownsville a day after the arctic front clears the coastline , moderate precipitation falling along the texas coast with temperatures in the 34-38 degree range, not cold enough, but close enough to maybe keep an eye on it

The GFS just isn’t a serious model during arctic outbreaks. I think the ICON may have the best handle on the staying power of the cold. Now we just watch and pray something good happens in relation to winter precipitation.

Noticed not everyone is buying the hype here.. watched a different TV met in OKC earlier and he was showing only an inch or two of snow pretty much which would be more like Christmas 22 and January last year where the cold is more the story

Long way to go still. I will say TWC hasn't budged off 4-6 inches

Also in the short term tomorrow night has a very quick window for a dusting to an inch.... Well see if we can overperform again(we've yet to underperform this winter...)
