This could get bad--- I have a feeling someone's going to drop the ball on this regarding school closings/work closings. Wed AM is going to be a cluster in the DFDub.. mark my words

Freezing drizzle doesn’t stick well in my experience to roads unless it’s very “heavy.” I’m skeptical.

I remember in 2021 before the big big cold having to drive back from temple to Fort Worth in the middle of the night was hell from freezing drizzle. Cars were sliding everywhere (temps matter)

Thankfully that looks a little more ominous on those maps than the actual composite radar for the timeframe, which is to say with the wind helping to dry or minimize whatever manages to fall (drizzle) and small window of opportunity, hopefully most can avoid travel issues. Having said that, definitely needs to be watched as temps are more than cold enough west of I-35 early Wed AM for some issues should light precipitation hang around longer

Anything more than drizzle will make it to the ground, question will be how much moisture is available. Note anything that falls will freeze to raised surfaces.

I'm older, too, but I have only a single plant (succulents) on my back patio to bring in. Used to have a bunch of orchids out there, but a freeze got them while I was away. Most plants across Houston will be fine. I'm thinking azaleas and other shrubs. Bananas will die, but they should already be dead. Probably too cold for Hibiscus, too. I'm not far from Sugar Land. I'm thinking 28-29 there Thursday morning. Freeze times from 2am-9am. No freeze Friday.

I hope the cold weather lovers enjoy the next week of well below normal temperatures as this will likely be the last big cold blast of the season. This very well could be the last freeze event of the winter for areas south of IH-10.

Seeing some predictions over 6 inches here now... If we go on the high end this could be the biggest storm I've seen here

Could be a great way to end the winter I guess. I mean I'm sure we'll probably have another quick cold snap or even a borderline event in March up here but as far as the big hyped up storms this is probably it

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Only one sample size last summer but the peak heat of this -PDO was 22/23 and leveled off. PDO weakened significantly this winter and we may be in a transition. Should be a workable summer. The cooler start to spring will also delay the onset of heat in May.

Here are the 12Z plots for Houston and D-FW. It appears that my tertiary wall between Waco and Lufkin will keep all that really cold air bottled up in NE Texas Wed-Fri. Just a light freeze for Houston Thursday and maybe a very light freeze in the northern suburbs on Friday and we can say goodbye to winter. Enjoy your dry cold up in the D-FW area. Chances of any further winter weather (of significance) appear to be over for this winter, unless you think a brief period of sleet in NE TX on Saturday is exciting.

May not be far off at all

You must hate swimming and the beach.
You should move to the Yukon.

Except the beaches in Texas are terrible. They aren’t even worth going to IMO. The only time I ever go down to the coast is to go fishing.

cajungal I do enjoy swimming, but thats the only thing the heat is somewhat useful for, other than that its just an inconvenience to me, and even then texas beaches are absolutely garbage, thats about it, other than that my AC is staying at 60 for the next 6 months, and the Yukon would be a perfect fit!

I rather go to Florida panhandle over Grand Isle beach here in Louisiana. I do love swimming and have a pool. I do love the snow we got in January. But by March I am ready for spring.

How about the Sierras? They measure their snow in feet. Forget measuring in inches over there lol
