For all the folks that keep saying I'd rather it be warm if its just going to be a dry cold, without the cold you can't have surprises like the snow falling out most of our windows in North Texas his morning. Give me the cold every time and I'll enjoy mornings like this when they occasionally happen (as I just watched blowing snow fly down my street in waves) 8-)

Got a pretty good dusting here in Coppell. Looks like the heaviest band is just east of here

I've seen snow fall, back in my DFW days, with prior day upper 40s and no airmass change, just dynamic lifting and dewpoint depression. Low dewpoints matter as much as temperature.

It's snowing in Amarillo and Lubbock this morning with a disturbance above them that will also cross today. The flurries probably continues all day and I'm not sure we make forecast highs.

All the way up to 3 degrees now in Edmond with wind chills between-15 to -20. Low was 1. Ended up with an inch or so of very dry snow. This came on top of some freezing drizzle. Roads are a frozen mess. Would have liked some more precipitation, atmosphere was just too dry and a dry slot was situated over the area as well.

Getting heavier here. Not 2010 snow but good enough.

Now I'm looking back at my childhood, and some of those snows in Carrollton makes me wonder if they were lake effect snow but we didn't have the technology at the time to tell us that back in the eighties and nineties?

Forecast calls for sun later. Do you think the clouds hang on all day today? It would be nice to have one cloudy day with the cold.

I don't see it happening until near sunset.

I wonder if someone drops below 0F tonight. Areas around Sherman would be most likely with a good snow cover. The rest of us should fall to 5-15F.

Many record lows and record low highs will fall from today through Friday and possibly Saturday. Always impressive when you see 3 day streaks show up in the record books.

It's possible. We call them LES but really they are lake-enhanced. It may add an additional dusting-2" to localized areas downstream, even in a big storm off a northerly wind but it would be hard to tell what counts for what. In a weak non-measurable event it's a little easier to see.

Visibility at DFW airport has dropped to 2.5 miles, band shifting west.

Snow lining the roads and the flakes are bigger now. Earlier my hands started stinging when I tried scraping flakes off the car with hand, lol.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.
