It's blizzard season with the big ULL's.

Glad to see you got something down in Temple! Not all is lost this winter down there :D.

Lake effect snow being the most snow I've had in a while is kinda comical

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Temps still falling here down to 17F. Don't see the NWS forecasted 32F happening.

Now 12F with light snow and 2.0 visibility :double:

ICON had the best handle on this airmass, CMC close second.

To reiterate and document just how terrible the GFS is with low level arctic outbreaks of this magnitude (due to its low resolution and physical limitations), this is the past 10 GFS Op runs from yesterday for DFW....it never got below 20F for its forecasted Wednesday morning low at DFW (ranged from 20-24F), the unofficial low at DFW appears to be 12F! An 8-12F temp bust from 24-72 hours out. It's much better with qpf and upper levels, but do not trust it's temperature depictions in these setups! Once you recognize the setup, it's best to discount the GFS temp forecast substantially. Hopefully pro mets and weather apps will pay attention to this flaw more in the future because it's becoming a pattern, we've seen it way too many times over the years on this forum to ignore.

It's funny that my last two "big" snows have come from Lewisville Lake. January 2024 and today.

As long as the wind remains consistent, what would cause these LES bands to end today?

It's happening because of disturbances flowing W-E. It doesn't just simply snow because it's cold and windy, or we would have this in every cold blast :D. Once the weak upper level features end, it will clear out. Those not downwind of lakes get flurries maybe a dusting, those with lakes might see more white cover.

My daughter's school is a mile from there. She was not happy this morning. I bet all the kids are unhappy at the moment.

This could be interesting in the later morning hours. I wonder if an early release might be in store.

Nearly 10am and it's still 12-13F with CAA. Helps with a bulldozer 1051mb high over the Dakotas right now.

Tireman4 boy I hope not. Talk about a cluster F. Parents panicking and scrambling to get to the school. Dealt with that before and it's total chaos.

Ty. I was referring to the wind direction and intensity remaining consistent over the lakes causing the LES. I’m near the Toyota music center and it’s still coming down, though lighter than the dark blue bands earlier.
