Some think it could become warm core but that is to be seen.

Nearly the entire lifespan of the cyclone up to its landfall in Turkey.

Really hard not to say that this wasn't tropical based on appearance! But snow? Maybe looking like a chicken doesn't always = a chicken?

The environment was quite cold around it with temperature at 850 hPa below -10 °C, and the water temperature is also only around/below +10 °C in that region, so I think it was much closer to a polar low than a tropical(-like) cyclone.

Yeah I agree. Satellite imagery showed a weak upper level low/trough diving south over the relatively warm waters of the Black Sea about a day before, which is a common setup for polar lows per Moreno-Ibáñez et al.
