Well I have enjoyed the trifecta of winter:
Cold
Dark
Getting sick
I'm glad it's over. Bring on the pollen. I don't care as long as it stays warm

Oh jeez, I'd so rather have the rain then the pollen though LOL! I hate that stuff. So, it certainly does appear that most of Florida won't see much in terms of chillier weather anytime soon but I wouldn't bet on that lasting until November. Long range seems to change up the pattern again; If only for a relative short duration. Its hard to trust long range modelling but both GFS and EURO seems to suggest a decent surge of cold air will plunge southward and into Florida around Feb 17th. Either way, I don't think Winter is over for us. It'll probably be far more like "normal" (well recent) Winters though. Chilly for a few days, then warm for a week.... off and on into March.

January ended up 4 deg F below average in Orlando, it would had been even colder if it wasn't for the 70s & 80s the last 6 days of the month. It was the coldest January in average since January 2010 which was 6 degrees below average, we saw 6-7 nights below freezing that month.
If you believe in the LRC the "colder" pattern for the SE US should return during the second half of February into early March for the last time before officially Meteorological Spring starts in March.
In the meantime I am sure everything is going to bloom across central and northern FL and it will look a lot like Spring over the next couple of weeks.
I don't want to jinx it but it looks like Tampa and Orlando has escaped another winter without a significant freeze.

Now that the month of January is over, we can finally make a full evaluation for the weather in South Florida.

At Miami International Airport, it was definitely significantly colder than normal (compared to the last ten years: 2015–2024)

Daily Maximum Temperature: 74.9°F (which is 2.5°F below the average of 77.4°F)
Daily Minimum Temperature: 58.4°F (which is 3.9°F below the average of 62.3°F)
Average Temperature: 66.7°F (which is 3.2°F below the average of 69.9°F)

Number of days the daily maximum was below 70°F: 4 (which is higher than the average of 3)
Number of days the daily maximum was below 60°F: 2 (which is the first time it occurred in January in the last ten years)

Number of days the daily minimum was below 60°F: 20 (which is the highest recorded in at least ten years and is much higher than the average of 11)
Number of days the daily minimum was below 50°F: 3 (which is higher than the average of 2)

I noticed how low the canals are across South Florida and they are drying up. There are some sections that branch off and you can walk across them without getting your feet wet. I know this happens every year. We really haven’t had a good rain event since maybe November last year.

Who thinks second half Feb will be somewhat cooler in S.Fl. I've noticed the nao/ao going negative after 15th. I'm hoping for some cool down before summer

It does look like a cool down is on the way late month. Fortunately by that point we have already run the clock out on winter so we can safely enjoy

Yup, same happening here in Central Florida. Kinda like clockwork seeing the pond water level behind me slowly drop until some time in May. Seems to me like that process has started a bit earlier than I recall though. Hopefully a good chunk of the State will pick up close to a 1/2" of rain with Sunday's cold front? Funny how it just seems that most rainfall projections end up "underperforming" rather than "overperforming"

Cooler weather for the entire state is still looking on target Hopefully you guys will get more than just a couple days of 70's for highs and 50's for lows. I'm not greedy LOL; here in the Orlando area, I wish we'd return to =/- 72 and 52 each day. 'Course, it's rarely that steady and we swing from cold to hot. In fact, I'd guess that everyone north of Ft. Lauderdale - Ft. Myers will still see at least a couple nights into the 40's before March.

Euro brings freezing temps close to the I-4 corridor for next Friday morning but the GFS is not in agreement with it.
As always, they will probably start trending towards each other's almost 20 degrees difference.

Yup, EURO just seems a bit TOO cold for climo. A split of the difference seems about right.

Here in Clearwater it's been 7-10 degrees cooler than Tampa everyday and I'm not even that near the beach.
We need that ridge to be east of Florida to take away the sea breezes as the pesky water temps are being more stagnant then they should be.
The evenings are uncomfortably cool. Makes a huge difference between in my outdoor plans.
Come on summer!

That may be true for S. Florida. We're in that transitional period where cold fronts continue to progress south and east as long as broad mid-level troughing continues over the Eastern half of the country. At the same time however, high pressure behind longer range cold fronts look forecast to be centered further north and more quickly expand eastward to the Eastern US seaboard. I think that set up should still cool North and Central Florida for 1-2 days following a few more frontal passages up to the end of March. Unfortunately for you folks down south, any additional cold fronts may begin to slow down, stall, or simply lack much cool air advection as winds quickly shift from southwest to northeast as high pressure quickly bridges or shifts eastward. Here in Central Florida, I still have hopes for 2-4 events giving us lows in the 50's and 68-74F highs

Good line of storms nearing the west central coast. Tons of lightning. We have been squall line deprived this winter. A pollen wash and some good thunder sounds like a winning combo

Looks like we have one morning in the 50s coming up even here in SFL. Then maybe another in a week and that will likely be it.

Spring temps in Florida seem to be trending normal to just below normal and I don't see any real change in that going into April.
Still looking at cold fronts clearing the state into April as we always have set backs to spring weather then.
Water temps in the Atl are still quite cool in northern half of the state. Will take an anchored ridge east of the state to stabilize the season going forward.
