Do you favor leaving Daylight Saving Time permanent or not?

On March 9th, the clocks spring forward one hour as Daylight Saving Time begins ,so the question is, do you favor or not getting rid of the time changes. There are 3 options to vote for and the poll will close for voting on monday at 10:26 AM EDT.

Last year I would have said DST all the time, but now I've switched sides over to the standard time all the time.

I'm used to the time changes, what can I say?

(I know this is weird and wrong, but I don't generally mind the changes, and maybe even kind of like them.)

This may be a very unpopular opinion, but I support keeping the clock changes as is.

Why? Eliminating the time change seems like a good thing on the surface, as it causes short-term disruption. However, there is no agreement on whether permanent DST or permanent standard time should be used. Year-round DST would likely lead to parts of the U.S. having sunrises after 9 a.m. in January, while year-round standard time would lead to the sun setting an hour earlier in the summer while rising unnecessarily early.

I see the clock change as a compromise, allowing later sunsets in the summer without excessively late sunrises in the winter. You can't eliminate the clock change without the sun rising an hour later in winter or setting an hour later in summer. I think if DST were to be eliminated, it would be initially popular before becoming unpopular later on. I commonly see "increased traffic accidents" as a reason as to why we should stop changing the clocks, but I think an entire winter of sunrises after 8 AM wouldn't do anything to help that.

My bedroom window faces the rising sun in the mornings, so I definitely don't want an earlier sunrise. I'm already looking forward to the time change since it will make the sunrise an hour later for a while. (I also don't like getting up before the sun either, but fortunately I don't have to do that very often.)

I don't see anything wrong with a later sunrise. I'd rather have the extra hour in the evening for biking. Keep DST all year. I always love moving the clock ahead in March. Just my personal opinion that fits my lifestyle. I'm usually awake by 5am for, so it's always dark. Another hour before sunrise is no big deal for me, personally.

I’d much rather have standard time all the time because the models come out an hour later during DST. I hate having to stay up an extra hour during DST for the 0Z Euro suite. Of course these days it has been coming out earlier than it used to. I’ve been enjoying the Euro finishing on WxBell before 1AM EST. Also, it would be nice to see the 0Z UKMET textual output of TCs at 11:15PM EST instead of 12:15AM EDT.

Plus for all the runs I get used to the earlier release times. For example, Happy Hour GFS finishing just after 6PM EST instead of 7PM EDT is nice.

Oh well, only 8 months to go til standard time returns (assuming DST not made permanent). Will be here before we know it.

On a much more serious note, permanent DST was tried in 1974 and it failed because several school kids were killed or injured due to later darkness in the AM when going to school. Thus, I don’t think they’ll go to DST all year.

I prefer daylight savings all the time since I sleep in late most mornings since I am retired. I also like it staying light later into the evening.

Eh, I bet everyone would take DST for granted more if it were permanent.
