That's what I'm saying I've never heard of this since I've lived here

Even my DFW years I'm kind of wondering about summer now how bad is it gonna be

We're gonna need a lot of rain come April and May

Heck we had over an inch last week during the severe threat and still it's happening

Although we've already effectively transitioned into Spring, yesterday was the last day on average for a frost/freeze at DFW.

Yikes, OUN is mentioning that there may be isolated gust up to 75 mph tomorrow. Parts of the panhandle and south plains may have winds up to 80 mph. :double:

Yesterday evening watched storms approach the area only for the S end of the line to weaken and die by the time it approached my house. These dry frontal passages are getting to be a problem in SETX. They are already a problem, of course, along and W of I-35. I don't know whether the more drought hardy flora is also freeze hardy, because most of the state near and N of I-10 had at least one hard freeze.

Edit to add- dewpoints a bit higher in Oklahoma, but slightly stronger winds than Permian Basin, with near 0 dewpoints. HiRes NAM from TT

I'm not optimistic about that with thicker high clouds moving in as the afternoon progresses.

But even 80s (which everyone will definitely achieve) are plenty warm this time of year.

Most of DFW has been upgraded to a Red Flag Warning and a High Wind Warning for tomorrow.

And this time, if there's dust, we get to see it without cloud cover...

We have some roofs getting torn apart by these winds in our neighborhood. My roof is within 3 years of age and it seems to be holding up, it was upgraded when it got replaced and I'm glad I did.

And hopefully the tornadoes east of here aren't as bad as the models look because yikes. Haven't seen a setup this bad in awhile

89F at IAH breaks the record from 1942 of 88F. Still have a shot at 90F.

That low deepened to 971mb.

Remarkably similar for sure.

It was also preceded by a massive severe weather outbreak...

Already near hurricane force winds in Lubbock :double:

Funny how there's like no wind here for once. Its gonna be a dramatic swing around lunch apparently

Is that ahead of forecast, higher than forecast, what does that mean for us here in the DFW area?

Does elevation play a role in days like this?

Overall I don't think we beat the last wind storm along the I-35 corridor. The storm is deepening but moving further north and east than the last one. It will be windy but maybe 40-50mph gusts. A bit stronger west.

The core of this is in the panhandle that moves into Oklahoma along with the tightening isobars north and east from there.

Fire risk is a bit higher than last time because no rain and been dry for much of the state.

A couple things:

1. We're sitting on the edge of a stratus deck here in the eastern part of DFW. That wasn't really forecasted, but hopefully it will mix out and/or push eastward quickly.

2. Satellite image is already showing a massive area of dust surging eastward from the Panhandle. It should reach the I-35 corridor by midday or early afternoon...
