Re: Texas Spring 2025
18Z HRRR suggests storms will weaken significantly before they get here, that is fine with me, one derecho in a 12 month period is enough.
Won't have weakened much if at all around CLL. About a quarter inch here, better than nothing, couple of 5 inch little lollipops up Highway 6.

Watching that outflow moving down 35, maybe I'll get lucky west of New Braunfels. I'm greedy, need more rain.

I've always thought whenever the storm looks like the icon for the radar scope app you know you're in trouble.

Why isn't Ryan Hall showing CC dropout anymore to look for TDS? Did NWS budget cuts stop the flow of that data to PPV radar apps?

Re: Texas Spring 2025
getting a little more interested in the pattern during the first week of may , already the CPC has a moderate risk (2/3) for heavy rainfall across a majority of the state, they are leaning towards the euros idea of a cut off upper low setting up shop over west texas, GFS/ CMC not really showing it yet , but worth watching as we go forward, we all know how many significant flooding events in texas have come from cut off lows in years past

Re: Texas Spring 2025
Yeah a little reluctant to lean on Euro as it's been a bit overdone with storms/precip further south on some of its previous runs however pattern does continue to look active heading into next week and beyond as we enter May so we shall see.
Euro has it's typical bias of cutting lows off while GFS tends to be too fast with systems coming out of the west so probably a blend in between.would be my guess. Either way more opportunities for rain look to continue as mentioned.

Re: Texas Spring 2025
Watching Lubbock news, and they still call them tornado sirens unlike the weird “outdoor warning” nonsense in DFW.
This storm is mean. A little nervous for a few hours from now as it crawls S/SE.
If it goes just south we should be ok. Otherwise I hope the hotel has shelter.

This storm is a beast.
Has a ton of inflow going into it with mergers so it will pulse up and down but looks to stay active going into Lubbock.
SPC thinks early evening LLJ might even enhance tornado threat so have definitely warned family members in Lubbock

Re: Texas Spring 2025
Looks like storm is cycling with a slight jog south reforming another circulation off an old outflow boundary from earlier. Could be seeing another tornado soon however a good sign for Lubbock though with this moving a bit more south than east.
