Tropical Depression (94W/Auring): A tropical depression (1002 hPa) is located near 23.2°N 121.8°E, on the eastern coast of Taiwan. Maximum winds are estimated at 30 knots. This system does not meet warning criteria. The depression is not well organized and resembles more of an extension of the monsoon trough rather than a tropical cyclone, consisting of a group of low cloud swirls rotating around a sharply elongated centroid located near the estimated position. Most of the associated convection consists of bands located to the south of the estimated center position, extending from along the eastern coast of Taiwan across the Luzon Strait to portions of northern and northwestern Luzon. This system is in the process of merging with a frontal boundary and is not expected to develop any further. However, it is expected to produce very heavy rainfall over portions of Taiwan, the Yaeyama Islands, and northern Luzon during the next couple of days.
