Yeah so far I haven't found much that compares to this week here. In the past "cold" days in August it was always back near 90 after a couple days mostly :double:

We may stay mostly below 80 through the beginning of Labor Day weekend which is just crazy. This timeframe is still filled with heat in most years

Rare for August for sure, about three weeks early. Normally it's a step down process with a front that dips us down under 100 then one that dips us down to the low 90s and so forth. Nice to see such a strong front this early. The HP is out west where they are baking and that's ok with me.

And right on cue, Evan on Fox 4 made the comment about social media posts and the upcoming cooler weather.

I mean I get it, but we are not hyping up snow/ice, sub zero or an extreme weather outbreak.

We are just saying wow, it might be unreasonably cool for August.

Based on winds and offshore storms, the front or at least a pre-frontal trough is in the Gulf but IAH still reached 99F yesterday.

That is what I was thinking. I'm not sure the actual front will make it Houston or the coast.

Darn, the front may stall just north of DFW looks like, which is temps are going up. 88-90 is better than 99, but was hoping for low 80s.

Do not look at the models. The initial front is making its way/at the river, which is quicker than what people were estimating (this evening)

I also forgot to note the clouds/outflow from the system are definitely preventing any more rise in temperature. Wouldn’t be surprised if cities along that line fail to break 90

Snow in Texas, 8th wonder of the World

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Pattern looks amazing even looking at some extended range models through the 2nd week of september, Cooler and wetter with a persistent -EPO in place, man this has been the best summer in several years

Don’t get too excited in our part of Texas for cooler temps. NTX will have a much better chance than us down here. Temps might be near average down here at best. Pattern looks wet though for the entire state.

As evident currently in Oklahoma, where there is extensive cloud cover and rain is quite cool. There is definitely an air mass shift that will move into the state and then stall, or at least have to bounce off the summer air mass. Towards the weekend and into the Labor holiday period the panhandle, parts of west and northern Texas will experience on and off rainfall. That will be the additional cooling. It's still summer technically so you do need precipitation to cool further but it is a step forward!

Long term EPS continues to show reduced overall heights so the step down process of the seasons is happening. An extended below normal period will continue into the first week of September.

I just want an inch or two of rain every couple weeks. Heat and humidity don’t bother me much.

Evan and I saw NWS bumping up temps a bit.

But hopefully it’s wrong.

The front just moved through here, winds are gusting out of the NE at 20mph+. We never made it to the mid to upper 90s's today as forecast "only" made it to 91.Temps have dropped from 91 degrees down to 85 in the last hour.

Humbling to think just the summer before last we experienced one of the hottest finishes. 110+ in mid to late August and another 110+ in early September...it could be much, much worse.

Oh my gosh there's a slight crispness in the air this morning.

Not a full-on-fall front but a decent start.

Definitely give you Goosebumps.

40s in Topeka and the outskirts of Kansas City wow :double:

This is one heck of a first front north of Texas

Tulsa had 11th coldest high ever in August and was only 6 degrees off the record
