For DFW JJA (Summer) will finish just slightly below normal, near normal in my books since it's pretty close.

June -0.2F
July -0.2F
So far in August -0.2F

Temp wise it was about what you expect for a seasonal summer, with bouts of rainfall. Number of 100F days will be below normal.

We will move to the Fall thread once the clock strikes midnight :D.

GFS hinting at some sort of significant rainfall event across the southern or SE half of texas in about 7-8 days, worth watching the trends to see if other modes start picking up on it

The GFS is showing enhanced moisture from a TC in the Pacific. txtwister78 has been mentioning this possibility.

It’s dry as a bone. What the heck happened?

Looks like it went south.

I’m in Roanoke, so pretty close to you I think. I noticed as late as last night NWS had 90% chance of rain with an expected 1-2 inches of rain. lol. I’ve learned to take NWS forecasts with a grain of salt.

Also, the big cold front that was supposed to be coming later this week looks like it’s not happening anymore either according to NWS.

The NWS temps are warmer next week for DFW but only by a few degrees. Still around 90 v the usual 100.

From what our NWS said even up here in Oklahoma the models don't agree on it. There's very high uncertainty on whether it happens at all

I mean yesterday I was hearing talk of record lows now its closer to average

I mean it is still summer just remember that. It takes a perfect setup to get a big front into Texas this early. Look at what just happened the other day in DFW vs Oklahoma. I would keep expectations low

For Roanoke NWS had highs for Friday in the mid 80’s and now is saying 94. That’s a pretty big change

Parts of the area (MBY included) are getting some torrential rain showers this evening.

No detectable lightning though.

EDIT: And a Flood Advisory has just been issued for Southern Collin County...

EDIT #2: Now there's a Flash Flood Warning as well, which includes far NE Dallas County...

Well the airport is about to get blasted with rain so we'll probably finish up August on a real high amount.

Record?

Holy cow 5 inch per hour rate!

Maybe a record IMBY.

An inch in 10 minutes…maybe 15.

Meteorological Summer ended on an awesome note in SA yesterday. Much of the metro area picked up some beneficial rainfall, with the airport measuring over 3 inches! Nothing to complain about this summer for me...quiet tropics and no significant/sustained heat waves. I'm thankful!

Finished above normal but not even close to the August record, which was in 2022 and almost all thanks to that one-day drought buster that flooded Dallas.

Wow :double: :double: I knew this summer has been way different here but wow

The average high temperature in Wichita Falls was 92.1 this August. That's the 8th-coolest average August high temperature on record at the site. For context, the average high in August 2023 at Wichita Falls was 105.5!
