150 kt FL in the NW quad on the way out. FWIW, there's a 177 kt SFMR.

Impressive. Yesterday evening (as per my posts) I was thinking he might have to go to Savanna-la-Mar or even further west to be sure of getting the eyewall. Did not expect it to take on that much of an easterly component of motion that quickly.

looks like his exact coordinate is 18.0438501, -77.9104967 just by comparing the building structure on his pics to the Sat image in google maps

What will Cuba be facing, Cat III?

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

If this was 2019, they would call this storm at 165-170 knots

If Melissa is able to remain sub-900 mb at landfall, she'll only be the second Atlantic storm on record to do so, and the first in over 90 years.

Recon has been circling in the eye for over 30 minutes now, that turbulence must have been rough!!!!

The NHC's official forecasts call for a 120 kt Cat 4 just south of Cuba.
