Watch for the severe weather threat before the cold follows. Doesn't always work out that way in the southern plains of course but it can definitely be a signal for the shift in the pattern that sets up cold across the source region that can deliver it south.

Yes, I’m in Dallas proper and see a faint but distinct, pink glow to the north.

Yep I went outside and held my phone very still and took pictures to the North and to the South, and there's definitely red in the sky looking North. Amazing.

I even took a picture to the South and sure enough it was dark with no color.

Take a picture with your phone hold it still. I could barely see a faint red, but when I took a photo it really lit it up.

Sometime next week probably the storm keeps slowing down out by California apparently. Weekend gonna be very warm

Mid next week may feature a strong storm system with multiple rounds of rain.The EURO AI has been locked in on this system for several days now I always pay attention when that model locks on to storms. Not set in stone yet though.

With such a slow moving system to the SW, warmth, moisture/dews, and mugginess will surge ahead of it. A frontal boundary will set focus along and ahead of it next week for a band of heavy rain. Where that sets up is TBD but I wouldn't be surprised if it included flood watches. Quite moist for time of year.

GFS ensembles a little less pessimistic about the op the next week but even they show less than half an inch locally. EDIT- locally being the Houston Metro

A little clearer now that around Thanksgiving and the period right after will feature big blocking over Alaska and Hudson Bay/Davis straits. It's as good as it gets, for winter lovers. We've seen glimpses from long range OP guidance that should only increase in the days and weeks ahead.

I think you may be onto something here. Definitely looks like a possible severe weather outbreak next week as of right now.

Yeah I dunno about cold air anytime soon(I mean really mid 80s on Saturday??? People thought we were done with that ) but with this warmth severe weather is definitely gonna be on the table sooner or later

I bet it's December before we really flip the pattern to cold
