Sat-Mon we'll be approaching record highs (mid 80s will do it). How annoying is it that's so easy to get warmth :x.

SE ridge showing up, so it would definitely be cold in the plains. Also extends the pattern for most of December.

This is what we need to start off any significant pattern change. I'd hate to go from late summer to winter without some rain and storms first. I'll worry about cold after Thanksgiving. Plus, the already weak fall foliage in DFW needs some moisture to add color and vibrancy before all the leaves fall for good. Cold will get here, just need a wetter cooler pattern first. It's been too damn dry this autumn.

Definitely looking like some severe weather potential possible for the eastern half of Texas next week, possibly significant potential.

GFS and Euro are also pretty consistent today with some hefty rainfall totals through the end of the month. Mostly centered on the greater SE OK/NE TX/NW LA/W AR region.

Well pages on Facebook are arguing about Thanksgiving already with record highs the next few days and maybe severe weather next week. Have I mentioned it's gonna be a long winter

The same person hyping arctic air is the same one who said there would be no more 80s this year so the track record is already poor

I'll believe it when I see it on a cold Thanksgiving locally but maybe it'll be the beginning of it up in the Rockies if nothing else

Thanksgiving itself is kind of a question mark. It is the week of that the Alaskan/-EPO pops up and there's no guaranty that the US pattern will reflect it immediately. It was never going to be 'cold' prior. If it rains on Thanksgiving it will be cooler, if not then it will be milder. The advertised colder pattern is from around TG-Mid December when blocking is in place.

To me the Euro AI has been decent so there will probably be some rain and a front around TG, depending on your location in the southern plains will determine if you're cool or warm.

Right I'm assuming most of this pattern change will be in December..I mean I'm pretty sure we need a snow pack in the Rockies if we're really gonna flip the pattern or certainly get a legit winter storm setup and more than a passing cold snap like last week

It's just funny to see arguing about 2 weeks out when literally this weekend's forecast is drastically different than it was 5 days ago  like come on. The 80s were never supposed to come back

Yeah I've learned my lesson over the years, never say never when it comes to warmth. It can be 90 in December cold or not. Especially when we haven't had real cold yet. A passing couple days of chill in a sea of above normal doesn't really count .

This looks like a setup you would get in the Spring. The WPC already has some hefty totals also.

And nice and humid, too. It will be a great weekend for finishing up the Christmas decorating before it gets too cold to want to do anything.

I found this in another weather forum, I surely wasn't expecting 1983 to be an extremely strong analog

I can't help but notice our record high from today is from November 2020

Very interesting what followed in February :spam:

But yes maybe we'll get a big rain event next week

The end of the GFS is trying to snow here on the after Thanksgiving weekend. Thanksgiving itself is stormy verbatim

What are the dynamics behind so many cut off lows in the west? Really messing with any precip chances for the west.
