i mean you’ll definitely have a warm up after a cold blast, but nothing crazy, low 70’s for a couple of days before our next front, but i definitely think we will need to watch our source region over the next 2 weeks as cold air should begin to really build, AO looks to be more favorable this time around, closer to neutral compared to where its been lately ( positive), hard to ignore the blocking pattern showing up

We always warmup here lol. It's the south. Its part of life. It's also early December...
It was 83 degrees two weeks before the -20 wind chills in February. Doesn't necessarily mean anything

Warm ups will be more prominent than cold blasts here. I understand that. Sometimes the teleconnections don't mean anything because they can favor cold, but don't guarantee it will get cold. Timing is just tougher in the south

Right we just have to wait and see but the fact is it's not even truly winter yet either. There's been very little here in December in years if it ends up not verifying
But yeah down here cold and snow is never guaranteed even in the best patterns
We get too cold it'll snow in the Gulf again and we be high and dry

Not sure what it was, anybody know anything?
It happened about 15 minutes ago.
That sounds like a SpaceX launch. Did it look something like this?

Where did you see this? I saw something much smaller this evening near Tyler, TX. Looked just the same as yours just small.

I'm in another class supervising non-testing students during English 1 and English 2 STAAR. So I can look at S2K for the next 3 hours. Anyone have a clown map from any model showing school cancelling snow totals in Texas? If I was in a testing room, I'd have to turn off my laptop.

Lol we may have another sneaky winter weather setup in the morning
But we know for sure what will happen in 2 weeks right
Two winter threats here in the first week of December. That's quite a start. I don't even remember anything in December some years here

Yeah it's been a decent start, even though not the fast super cold stuff, gradual and more consistent. Cold air availability hasn't been the issue, but the pattern has favored core to the east.

Yeah I'm sure they'll get a southeast ridge eventually

that's probably about the only thing guaranteed in the winter
I grew up over there believe me I know

Eventually it will be cold everywhere, Canada is really cold and locked in to be so. Quite different than the past 5+ years. The interesting thing though the tropical forcing is progressing, which in theory pushes the ridge/trough progression...hunch that is why things keep moving eastward. This is the danger of P8 and on, years like 2009-10, 10-11 were not memorable here with the brutal cold (might be a good thing later on?) as they were to the east, the last really long stretch of P8. Though we do remember them for sustained chill and snow.

If it's to be a front loaded winter, hopefully we get a chance early on before it warm up later, which typically is the case with niñas. SSW stuff takes a few weeks to make it to the surface and they are no guarantee but hopefully we get cold from it

Warmer signal continues via CPC and the ensembles beyond this wk. Colder air will shift east for now next two weeks
The rollercoaster pattern mentioned a few days ago should come to an end for a bit with more seasonal weather low to mid 70's for highs more likely down across this area of our state.

I hope nobody finds it annoying that most of my comments here are about the cold long range and really nothing else like rainfall, storms etc, I know looking at cold beyond 10 days in modeling can be a headache lol, but im biased in the cold weather department, thats really the kind of weather that excites me the most in regards to talking about potential ,even outside of winter, so i do apologize when i go off about what i see in the models regarding cold because i definitely may not be right and may jump the gun too early and the cold never verifies, at least this time i hope im not wrong
