I mean this pattern really wont come into picture until sometime between the 16-20th, so it makes senses global models are going to be extremely volatile, one thing to note on that GFS run despite not being all that cold, has the TPV setting up shop in central canada at the end of the run and has a near split of the PV as well with another SSWE at the 50 MB level in the stratosphere

I bet it's gonna be after New Years like most years lately

I mean it's been a cold start on December here anyway and two winter events already that's impressive

Heck the GFS is pretty cold here in fantasy land. At least the latest run. Of course it's dry that's the risk if we get really cold

Yep, I’ve lost count of how many freezes we’ve had in the last 2 weeks here. With the NW flow we’ve been getting fronts every other day. At least up here even with the brunt of the cold air to the NE of us, It’s been a very nice start to December/Winter so far.

Right I don't know what everyone is complaining about. It snowed south of here yesterday!!!

We had killer tornadoes on this day in 1975... it could be a lot worse

It's gonna get really cold at some point

I'm complaining because it is in the 40s and raining. Too damn cold for that BS. At least give us something to play in if we're going to be miserably cold and wet!!

Well obviously their really isnt any point in caring what models show beyond even just 5 days as their accuracy drops off, but their is one thing i am becoming intrigued by, and see if it shows up in medium range down the road, models are showing a piece of the PV/ TPV breaking off or setting up shop in central canada, obviously its not reflected at the surface yet, but i do wonder if the PV undergoes a split or another stretch down the road

Honestly, it’s been cold down here for the first week of December, but nothing really out of the ordinary for my part of Texas. Heck, I remember back in 2008 or 2009, we had snow down here in early December. This doesn’t even come close to that.

We got the dry and above normal temperatures coming, but it's not going to last long

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Never say Never with weather! Because ANYTHING is possible!

We need something to shake up the pattern. I just looked at the PNA charts and it’s actually near neutral right now, but you’d never know it by looking where the cold air is mainly headed to (the EC). I don’t understand it lol

Brent, the trough is too far east, even for most of the east coast. I do hope that changes eventually with a little further west in time :grrr:
