I will win against any winter temperatures! With the help of a space heater on my desk and a closed office door, I've managed to raise the temperature to 81.5F. Ah, thawing out a little. Only problem is the rest of the house is at 74F - freezing.

Taking a look at the predicted 500mb flow in the 12Z EC, I see no evidence of any pattern change that will bring any significant cold down to Texas over the next two weeks. Take a look at the EC 500mb flow at 288 hrs vs. the GFS. GFS has a deep upper low moving across northern Mexico - thus the ice in Texas. Euro has a weak upper low moving across northern Colorado and east to Nebraska. GFS has a record of being consistently wrong with the 500mb flow beyond 4-5 days. Believe it at your own risk.

That’s good news.

Keep in mind folks with that much blocking over the top models will suffer from feedback error as this all transitions but this is going to take some time before things begin to really reflect in model land but there are some signals already showing up on the ensembles and certainly the weeklies. Nothing has changed in that regard. In fact it looks even better to me.

Until then get ready for another warm up. 87 here by Friday with more seasonal to mild weather to follow for a week to 10 days and then we wait.

Wxman57 you and my wife would get along famously based on the bolded statement!!
Now, back to the weather. I am not a cold weather fan, but an occasional occurance of normal winter weather for our area would be nice!

Hell, even 74 in the house is a bit too warm for me. Perfect temp for me in the house is about 72.

Before we have a chance of arctic air/winter weather. We *may* have to deal with some severe weather and/or heavy rain.Models are showing a potent shortwave moving in around Jan 8th.Something to watch. Some rain would be greatly appreciated.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Never say Never with weather! Because ANYTHING is possible!

DFW would cease to exist if that were to happen. Funny to look at though.

Theres definitely still a signal here around the 10th 11th

I think it's gonna be later in January for a better setup though. It's just so far out still

Again what is disturbing me is the lack of moisture the last few weeks

Apparently even with the cold start OKC will make the top 10 warmest Decembers... Right behind last year...
