Looking at the models, a tenth to two tenths of precip falls in Houston with temps at/below freezing. Except for those people who have to drive (cops, firefighters, doctors) this should be fairly low impact.

Impactful as all heck if you are that nurse driving to your job in the exurbs and you have to drive across any creeks.

Not sure how far south down I-35 the freezing line makes it, maybe as far as San Antonio. Major impact from there up into Oklahoma. I think EWX should extend winter advisories/watches a row or two of counties farther S. It is hilly on the W side of Austin, it won't take much to make those areas a driving disaster.

I don't think people realize how big of a deal this is gonna be. They are just assuming it's another random flurry which is all the whole winter has had

With the latest guidance, some similarities to the GHD Blizzard of 2011 are appearing, which started off with an extended period of cold rain before transitioning to a sleet fest for DFW. Most (if not all) of the actual snow in North Texas was out towarda Graham, Cisco and Bowie where roughly a half foot fell.

Tulsa had its worst snowstorm on record then at 14 inches

AccuWeather actually has a chance at 15 right now

Yeah might as well after last years warm nose issues I’m over it lol. I sat at 32.9 degrees and it rained about an inch. 15 miles north got like 3 inches of snow I got about 15 minutes of flakes lol.

Let me quote HGX's sage advice again as we go into this event...

Historically speaking, which may or may not be useful for this
particular event, these shallow cold airmasses typically arrive
faster and are colder than global guidance indicates. It`s also
not uncommon to see some general consistency for several days,
then some runs where guidance looses the signal, before it
magically reappears in later runs. Try not to follow any
individual model suite/run...or individual social media
snapshot. Trends are your friend.

FWIW, while the EURO looks bad at face value, it actually keeps temps in the 30-32*F range in DFW for the brunt of the event (doesn't fall before that until Saturday evening, when the precipitation is tapering off).
