Wow! Awesome!

Still waiting for something to happen at my location. Dallas North Tollway at Trininty Mills had only had about one minute of mixed precip so far.

That definitely has to be the LES.

It must be forming in the lowest 5,000ft. Not impossible to happen, only because the lakes are so warm (much warmer than the Great Lakes).

It's back to 50/50 snow/sleet mix as a heavier band is moving in, so the snow was definitely between the bands.

Mid 30s in most of Austin--I have 37 here in East Austin. Freeze line seems just to the west, in the Hill Country and north. The real cold stuff, mid-20s and lower, seems to be behind a Mason-Lampasas line. But we've gotten about 1/2" of badly needed rain so far, which is great.

Wow, Hydromet is showing as. much as 3.5" of rain over Lake Travis. That is great! (We now return you to your winter wonderland monitoring.)

DFW down to 23F. Most of the area is down into the 20s except the eastern zones.

TexMesoNet is a pretty good tool if you want to see temperatures across the state.

https://www.texmesonet.org/

-3F out in Texline and 75 down in Brownsville.

Front moving through north Houston. Temperature dropped from 57 to 49 with a north wind gusting 30 mph. No change in our forecast. Possibly a light glazing of bridges and overpasses Sunday before the rain ends around 9am-10am. Nothing on surface streets. Meanwhile, people are in a panic at local stores. It's just a hard freeze, folks (low-20s) Monday and Tuesday. It is not the end of the world.

How’s the warm nose looking? Any chance at a faster change to snow with the big band later tonight?

Fell back asleep. We did get a little sleet and a thin layer of snow on top. Definitely a lot colder than a couple hours ago.

35° IMBY. Cold rain for now. I hope I’m reading the models correctly, but did any of them have Far Northern Bexar County being this cold, this early?

Almost freezing here in Round Rock … 32.5° … received close to an inch and a half of rain which is great! Guess things go downhill from here. We shall see.

Yes, the WRF-ARW model. It’s done very well for this event so far.

Well it’s a balmy 12.6 degrees at the house and it looks like a winter wonderland looks like about 3 inches of bright white sleet on the ground.

Here in north Fort Worth it stuck at 32 for hours but then dipped to 28 in 15 minutes at 3 am so something gave that final nudge I guess. Now 19! Wish there was a lot more coming this morning still…not a ton SW coming in.

But I did hear sleet and see it in the roofs and ground. Not a lot here yet.

Prepare as we enter the, “that was it?” phase of this storm.

Maybe 0.1" freezing rain with close to an inch of sleet. 29F right now with colder temps moving in from the west and north. We may see 2" sleet with this first round. I expected the first round to be mainly freezing rain around here so great sign that it's 50/50 or even leaning more to sleet. Round 2 should be all sleet turning to snow tomorrow morning.

Much more to come! Still have over 24 hours. Hopefully we all will see some heavy banded snow tonight and tomorrow.

Edit, it’s dropped to 12.8 degrees near Albany.

I see the NWS just dropped the Dallas precip chances for today from 100% down to 30% for today. Looking at radar seems like the right call.
