Exmouth is a beautiful - very isolated - small town on the West Coast, and the direct target for Cyclone Narelle. Exmouth is the tourist hub for the World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Coral Reef. It is a beautiful part of the world, but it takes a lot of effort to get there.

Narelle is being listed here are as a Cat4 - this coast has been notorious over a couple of centuries for producing seriously exciting cyclones. And for the two centuries prior to that (1620-1820) a lot of Dutch ships went through here on their way to the Dutch East Indies ... goodness knows what those sailors experienced.

Respectfully disagree with the JTWC's decision to downgrade the 12z operational BT point from 115 kt to 110 kt; both ADT and their own subjective satellite estimates supported (and continue to support as of 2030z) 115 kt / T6.0, and supported 120+ kt with objective estimates approaching 6.5 yesterday evening. Aus. BoM has very reasonably held their intensity estimate at 100-kt (10-minute sustained), Category 4 on the Australian scale and roughly analogous to a minimal SSHWS Cat 4. But I don't want to split hairs - Narelle is a powerful storm either way. The cyclone's track and persistance is more of a story than its exact intensity.

It's hard to tell with no radar, but it looks like the storm has yet to actually make landfall, took a bit of a westward jog and might scrape along the coast for a while longer.

The storm has caused a fair amount of damage, including to LNG facilities. Notwithstanding a final official warning, she might still have a significant impact on the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and even further south.
