Re: Texas Spring 2026
Been off and on with my Parents in Springtown today it really looked like they were going to get smacked again. They were in the path of the tornado the other night and have substantial damage. Every tree on the 15 acre property has bad damage.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Well not bad. I am on a little sliver of the cell that isn’t bad. It appears hail isn’t that big in the immediate metro either. I will take it after the other night.
Not even reports of any hail by chasers driving in DFW.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
One thing that may have helped DFW today is cloud cover. Temps weren't able to climb into the upper 80's as opposed to areas just SW where a bit more sun was able to break out and thus maximize instability
Storms to the southwest also competing a bit against it so that helps limit intensification as well. Could still pulse back up but hail core has certainly come down.

Definitely. When I saw on the short range guidance that the storms may line up, there was for sure potential for competition and thus far the west southwest flank has more to work with and choking off a bit the storms to the north and east with time. No complaints here.

That one cell has split off and is going rogue over Denton County.

It was 86 here (McKinney) at 11 AM and 80F at 2 PM. I don't see how you get 4000J/kg of CAPE from that

Even better news Friday will be a chilly (for time of year) raw steadier rain for many
.
The record lowest maximum for May 1st at DFW is 55F which we will be hovering.

59 degrees here 3 days before May
It felt like mid summer yesterday morning at 7am
And yeah definitely some significant damage near Mineral Wells. Possible injuries. You can tell something crossed the highway between there and Cool on Google maps

That tornado warned storm near Cleburne looks terrible on radar, very clear hook.

Supercell south side of Cleburne means business. You're seeing what sunshine and more importantly no other storm to compete with this can do in the atmospheric environment that was available just SW/S of DFW today.

I’m no expert but that looks like EF3 or 4 damage.

Yeah it's hard to tell what that structure was, and if it was a little rickety building it might not take much to damage it like that, but I agree it looks pretty bad.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Attention shifts south tomorrow across the southern HC/ SC TX and perhaps Brazos Valley region. Could be another big hail day and perhaps conditional tornado threat depending on if/where these boundaries setup from storms up north.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Will see if the euro picks up on this system, but the GFS is now showing yet another cut off low getting stuck in the desert SW , this comes a few days after our may front sweeps through, that is a very stormy look as the cut off low very slowly meanders eastward, lots of pacific moisture being funneled into texas, i know the talk is severe weather, but id be lying if i said i at least wasnt somewhat concerned about excessive rainfall and flooding problems, at least from what I see in the pattern, flooding could become more of an issue in may
