INTERESTING.....SNOW SOUTH...RAIN NORTH??
If this systm develops as predicted and tracks off the delmarva peninsula, as with many storms warm air will be drawn in along the SNE coast......therfore a wind driven rain event for the Jersey and SNE coast while the circulation around the low would bring in N and NW winds further south into VA and NC therfore the warm ocean would have no effect....in summary while parts of NEW ENGLAND get rain or MIX...a significant ice to snow event may be setting up a bit further south...so if I lived in the Raleigh to Richmond corridor....even to the coast of VA and NC...this could be some big news for you folks....whats your take on this solution stormfury??

Don't loose hope yet.
The way things are developing ............ you may end up with more snow then you think.
Looks like the cold air mass will be in place in your region and the precip should be there to produce that snow...........................how much........don't know 4 sure if any........but looks prommising.

Well i for one think a few (forecasters Etc) will be in for a suprise on the westside of the apps. Especially from eastern TN up into KY/Ohio to lake Erie. I notice quite a few here writing this area (OH/TN Valley's) off which i feel is wrong for which i will state why later on. I will admit im starting to why certain people have come to the conclusion that they have already about this storm? Even at this juncture i know it all can still change. But to kinda write a place off this early in the game is not a good move at all imo especially with a storm like this.! Just my two cents!
I for one would be watching it for snow/sleet or rain if i lived from the Carolinas on up east side of the apps and well i already stated the west side. More or less give it another day or so before claiming this or that WILL happen.

southern New England
For my area (SE New England) the factors needed are:
1: cold high to our north or nw that remains during storm period
2: storm tack at least 50 miles se of Cape Cod
3: NO east winds, must be NE or N
4: Strong upper low to bring down cold air from above(April fools day storm 1997)
With water temps still 40-50 deg. to our east we need these critical parameters in place. From what the pro. mets have been posting, looks OK for my area as of now.

It's all about proximity to the coast, elevation and wind direction. It can be 42 degrees in Boston on strong easterly winds and raining, while it is 32 degrees and snowing in Baltimore on NNE winds. If you are east of the mountains and have a strong easterly wind in early December - any precip would likely fall as rain. However, if the wind shifts to NE or N, then the precip would likely change to sleet and/or snow - especially given the cold air that will be in place in eastern Canada.
Regarding this upcoming storm, I just have a feeling it will either be too weak to pull down enough cold air to give my area snow, or it will track too close to allow for NE winds (except for maybe the tail end of the storm).
