Advice needed...

I'm driving to Boston Saturday and am planning to drive back Sunday...does anyone know if the driving will be hazardous or what the road conditions are supposed to be like? Its about a 5 hour drive east of Watertown, through the mountains of Mass. and into Boston. Should I try and stay Sunday night to and drive back to NY Monday? Thanks in advance.

The storm will probably be done by Sunday morning. But Boston could receive over a foot of snow. Maybe it would be best to drive back on Monday.

Hmm...I may decide to stay until Monday, just to be on the safe side. I have to be there on Saturday, so it looks like I will have to drive through the thick of it. I think I can handle it, I'm just worried about the other drivers who are not used to it

This might not be what you were expecting, but Boston drivers are bad no matter what. And having lived in the area there for 4 years, I can say they ain't much better when the roads are wet, let alone snowy

I read something online that a few days ago when Boston got a dusting of snow there was more than 300 car accidents...I can only imagine what it will be like on Saturday

If you wnat to spend a Noreaster in your car for 24+ hrs with 1-2 feet of snow around you go ahead

Well, I can't really call the trip off, so it looks like I'll just have to head straight through it and hope for the best. I'm a little bit nervous, now.

A few things...

The Tuesday morning mess was a very specific situation. A inch fell at the worst possible time - 5-6 AM. It flash-froze on the highway and plows couldn't get to it before the morning rush.

Plows do as good a job as anywhere clearing the Mass Pike, but that may not be saying much if this thing cranks. One thing to keep in mind, the exits West of 495 are 10 miles apart or more. The rest areas are brand new and would be good places to stop for a long time if needed, but those are 15-20 miles apart.

In my experience most drivers on the interstate in snow will settle into a nice rhythm, with a few yahoos trying to drive fast. I came down 93 into Boston just as the Xmas storm got cranking (saw lightning before my eyes) but everyone was in "sync" and being cautious.
