Hello All,

LOL... I am chasing your temp here Chad! It is 86f right now. Thank goodness we have a little bit of a breeze to cool things down. I am dreading those 90's!!!!!! Slept with the air on last night for the first time in months.

Think I may just head down to the beach later.

Hope you all have a good afternoon and evening!

Well get off you arse and get it cleaned. You have to teach that little one to swim this year - its best to do it when they are very very young. He'll love it.

Chad my son will be 4 soon and he is terrified of swimming. I got him into the pool last year with me, at the mere suggestion of swimming lessons he threw his toys. Do you know if the YMCA has a class where parents can join the kids in the pool?

Thanks Chad, I will have a look into it. I am not sure if our local Y has a pool  they want you to pay for access to the local public pool! I really need to do something about the situation because we have a creek running right around our property and I am petrified my little fella falls in one day.

Amanzi and Chad, I'm sure your kids will really enjoy the water and the FUN involved in learning to swim!! :D :)

My niece and nephew have been taking lessons now for a while at our local recreation center and they've thoroughly loved it! :D

Swimming lessons shuld be required for all kids in Florida, there's just too much water around here. Every year you see the stories of kids pulled out of pools and lakes. It only takes a minute for them to get into trouble

You're asking the right person! I have taught swimming lessons at the YMCA for 5 years. Yes, the YMCA does have parent and child swimming lessons, but parents are only allowed in the water til the child turns 3. Then its time to place the child in preschool lessons. When that happens parents are permitted to watch the children from a viewing area. In some places parents watch from behind windows (Neenah-Menasha)...in others they watch from a balcony (Green Bay, Broadview Center). I currently teach some preschool very beginner lessons, and I must say, those are the best to teach. You can use your imagination with the kids and they don't realize that they are learning how to swim while playing games. Work in the bath tub with your son especially on floating on their backs (kids are usually extremely hesitant while laying on their backs in the water), every little bit helps! Does that answer your question??? If you have anyother questions about YMCA swimming lessons, just let me know.

Currently 25* here in Green Bay, with the snowpack slowly melting.

Stamina week is ALMOST over and then the real party begins...21st birthday party! March 11th to be exact! Spring Break is only a week away, then I'll be venturing out to Norristown, PA for Spring Break to work with the Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity. UWGB HfH is sending 14 students and I was selected to be one of them...I can't wait.

Pojo thanks so much for the tips :) I have tried to get him to lie on his back with me supporting him, he hates water near his ears (you should hear the crying and screaming that goes on when I have to wash his hair)

Do you have any pointers for me on how to get him used to the idea of getting his head wet?

Chad I know, that is why I am terrified, I never let him outside on his own for fear of him landing in the creek.

I'll answer your question when I get back from work.
