Odette has reached peak intensity

#1 Postby ncweatherwizard » Fri Dec 05, 2003 11:55 am

Visible images show a potential weakening trend clearly; although I stop short of saying "Odette is weakening" for at least a few hours, until what I see is definite or not.

With my track forecast I almost feel as if I should already push the 36 hour plot a little eastward, thinking that the hook east won't occur as late as the forecast plots insinuate. This would result in a 48 hour coord farther south and east. Intensity forecast is fairly confident.

Pressure rose from 993 to 997 mb in the past few hours. It appears that Odette is on the eastern side of a large ring of relatively low pressure. We've seen this many times with sheared systems this year.

Looks like she's getting sheared slightly...still think it could become a cane though.

Sheared more than slightly - have you seen the upper air forecast for tonight/tomorrow? Shear has only just BEGUN. Chances of Odette becoming a hurricane are remote at best.
