We spend every Christmas Day with my husband's family and the menu is usually the same! Honey Baked Ham, several casserole's, several appetiser's (shrimp coctail is one) but one dish you'll just never guess they serve - Mostecelli (sp?)! You see their Grandmother was Italian and brought homemade M. sauce/pasta to every holiday dinner she was invited to. Easter/Thanksgiving/Christmas, etc. Baptism's/Graduations/Confirmations also. I remember asking someone once or merely commenting - mmmmm, an Italian dish on Thanksgiving? LOL It's been explained to me many times but since she's gone now, they continue to serve 2 huge platters of it. And I've always gotten out of making the sauce - he he. Someday I'll have to brave that handed down family recipe....I did boil the pasta last year, since I hosted the dinner. All I had to do was heat the sauce, that a sister-in-law made. I hear it's easy but the fact that it's a hand-down recipe, I just know I'll make it different than they're used to.
