Hiccups!

#1 Postby Amanzi » Tue Dec 16, 2003 2:01 pm

I know I have been moaning and groaning because I cant get my mom here to be with me with when my baby is born. I have been really distracted with the Holidays and getting things done around the house.. Of course tending to my son everyday keeps me busy as well.

Maybe your wondering about the title of this thread and the relevance of what I have just written.. well.. the point is. I have not taken much time with this pregnancy to just sit down and enjoy being pregnant.

As I sit here taking a breather and reading the posts.. my little bean in my tummy has a BAD case of Hiccups.. Its so funny my whole belly is dancing :D She had to remind me to take note of her and pay her some attention :)

So no matter how hectic your holidays are.. take time just to sit down and relax (even if you dont have an internal hiccuping karate expert to remind you)

Good post Bronwyn. We too often get wound up in our daily lives that we don't have time to cherish the little things in life. Then we realize after it is too late how important those things really were.

Great way to remind us all to slow down and enjoy "me" time every once in awhile.

Come to think of it Bron, I am 57 and never once sat down to enjoy being pregnant either (I left it up to Kathy!).

After Jason was born (10 lbs 8 oz) from his 115 lb mommy, I worried more about the "Bobbitt maneuver" than the hiccups. Kathy did not enjoy much of that pregnancy....try as she did. If she could have moved fast enough after me with those scissors, well....... She didn't catch me as nine months after the 4th of July fireworks in 1976, Jarrod arrived in the world at 9 lbs. 4 oz.. Doc performed the Bobbitt a few weaks later.

I'm still hoping that something works in your favor...and your mom can make the trip. In the meantime, though, a little laugh is good for the soul. And a little soul is good for the heart.

Best wishes to all of you in the months ahead.

Bron - thanks for reminding us to do just that - slow down. I caught something this past weekend, thought it was the flu, now I'm not sure. But it did cause me to slow down. I felt rotten. Fine now but I'm taking things a bit slower. No need to rush about, I'll get it all done.

Pregnancy....ah, what a fun time. Not! I was not one of those happy campers in the preggo dept. Never really had a tough time of it, like some mom's I knew, but I never really felt great either. I was glad when it was over and I had that sweet baby in my arms.

One thing I've learned takes care of hiccups is going up and down the stairs. That usually works out the bubbles.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, she would wait until I laid down at night to sleep for her to get the hiccups. It would drive me nuts trying to sleep while my belly was acting like a mexican jumping bean. Now she drives me crazy with the way she critizes what I cook because she doesn't like spicy and the rest of us do.
