What can I expect?

#1 Postby btornado » Sat Dec 20, 2003 10:52 pm

I'm planning a trip to my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa. from Everett, Ma (near Boston) over the Christmas holiday. I'm leaving for Pittsburgh the morning of Fri, Dec 26th and planning to return to Everett on Tues, Dec 30th. Though I believe I'm safe from any major snow event heading to Pittsburgh on the 26th, I was wondering what kind of weather to expect during my stay there and during my return to Everett on the 30th. I'm an avid climatologist, but I'm new to the science of weather prediction and model interpretation. Any response is greatly appreciated.

Umm you may wanna hold that thought about Pittsburgh on the 26th. Possibility still does exist for some snow in that area from our what should be departing Christmas storm (could stal and hang around for a couple of days). I doubt at this point the area will feel the full brunt of it but some snow is still possible and nothing shouldnt be ruled out just yet. However looking past that event it does look to warm up some but not by much. I would expect temps to be in the 30 to low 40s ball park range during this time after the storm. Either way check back in for updates as nothing is set in stone yet with this Xmas event............Hope this helps for now! Have a safe trip and a good Christmas!!!!

Thanks for the info!
After the 29 inches of snow that slammed us a few weeks back, I just don't want a repeat performance while I'm on the road. (or off the road in a ditch, for that matter)

Yes, indeed... according to the Taunton, MA National Weather Service, Everett, MA received 28.5 inches of snow with six foot drifts after all was said and done from the Friday, December 5th to Sunday, December 7th storm.
