12 GFS gives in to ETA!

#1 Postby Upslope » Sun Dec 21, 2003 10:56 am

The GFS has now jumped ship and goes toward the ETA solution of a weak lo into the OV followed by a stronger low riding the apps.

Could be a big hit on the western slopes of the apps. That's assuming the models are correct!

It's still early in the game... but the trend is definatly eastward.

Thanks KOW! However it can all still change in a hurry, but I like the trend.

You hit the nail on the head about the other models not picking up on the cold air in Canada. The ETA did as it has much better resolution with low level cold air. Now, if you notice the GFS... it is much colder at 850 with -10 to -15 temps over our heads for Christmas Eve/Day!

Bingo... it's catching on to the cold and it's solution is different.

Also, add the NOGAPS to the ETA, GFS and GEM camps!

I will add that the MRF is picking up on the cold air...shows -10°C temps over this area by 0z on 12/25...
