But if you think that is the way it should and needs to be.. then do it.. Not trying to stop you.. But dont do it here.. Not in my house buddy.

woah, it seems i hit a nerve. big difference between personal attacks and heated debates. i think an example needs to be shown.
your forecast is dead wrong or even your forecast is garbage=not personal attack
you are an idiot=personal attack.
nothing wrong with attacking the forecast. also, yes, in the private wx world, if there is a client willing to pay money and its down to 2 mets or companies, they will attack their forecasts and even each other to get the money. that spirit can spill onto the boards. also, some people are just rotten lol. this is started in college. i was forced to participate in the nfc(national forecasting competition.) I didnt take it that seriously but the more competitive people did.
chad, yes the rules are but then you would give storm2k a bad image to people who havent seen it. if the admin of another board goes to wwbb, they represent the other board. its why i was trying to reason with king of wx who has gone ape on wwbb a few times. but in the end, its your board chad. do whatever makes you happy. whatever the rules here, ill try my best to respect them.

Chad, you've misunderstood my post, but I should have been more specific. My post explained WWBB ONLY and the pro mets there ... Nothing about Storm2k. That's a fact at WWBB, egos will clash, money is on the line. Did I say it was right? No. NO ONE deserves to be personally attacked ... see the debates in the tropics forum for prime example of excellent debate WITHOUT personal attacks.

The good news about "elective" weather boards like Storm2k is that you have a choice...participate or not; like it or not; stay or go elsewhere.
The leadership has worked hard to protect fairness and differing opinions. Board participants likewise have done a very credible job of respecting those who come and visit. Spats and misunderstandings do take place...as in any family atmosphere. But apologies are as real as the handshakes and hugs. And what family has not heard something unpopular now and then from someone sitting around the dinner table.
Still...the greatest single asset of Storm2k is that it continues to be a place where good friendships are born and support systems are real. In that way, it is bigger than itself. It plants a seed. We nurture it, ignore it, or stomp on it....our choice.
To expect it to be a place for everyone is unrealistic. There are tens of thousands of sites to plant your feet in cyberspace. If this isn't yours, then by all means roam the rangeland until you find the place you are looking for.
Woodstock, here at Storm2k we learn a lot from each other, and about each other, in spite of our differences.
And yup, along the way, sometimes people get mighty close to the "real people" we are. Feeling vulnerable can scare the begeebers out of us...
Or it can make us very thankful to have this place.
Our choice.

Your forecast is garbage I guess is not bashing.. But is weenie to me.. Why say its garbage? Why not just simply say that you disagree? If your wife or child trys to do something and it does not come out as good as it could have.. Do you say its garbage? No, because its very mean/immature/rude/etc...................... I just think an adult should be able to just state that they dont agree, and then state why.. Thtats all

again, Ill state that attacking even the forecast is some what wrong.. Now as far as the part about the private wx world and 2 mets fighting for a client.. Well Storm2k nor wwbb are clients looking to pay any of them.. So that arguement dosent hold much water IMO

why do you keep bringing wwbb into this? it just explains some of the actions of those pros on wwbb. their general attitude. some mets are just miserable period. i noticed that 2 nws forecasters on wwbb are much more laid back. maybe its cause nws jobs are more secure. i do agree on some of your thoughts chad. any kind of personal bashing shouldnt be tolerated. since you guys want to be the more family friendly board, you guys do have every right to mod the board the way you do and kick trolls. one thing im not doing is bashing storm2k because like i said up top, its your board chad.

Guess that is what I dont understand.. Money is on the line at wwbb?
Private Sector Mets in the field's income solely depend on their forecasts being as accurate as possible ... i.e., DT (WxRisk.com), MT (Meteotrade) - WeatherYouWin.com, and many others MUST attract customers by being the best.
Do many of the customers view messageboards first before selecting a service? I don't know.

That's no different than in almost any service industry Mike. When I was in the Network Consulting business the exact same pressures were there. The only difference in the anonymous nature of the boards. People don't have to own up to who they really are so they use that as justification for running amok.

rob22 wrote:you do have a point sf. you never know who is reading the boards. hey, wwbb was setup to attract customers originally.
Since I joined message forums just a little over a year ago, I don't know that whole history of the board, but I had a feeling that WW was setup to do as such. I don't subscribe to WW, but during the President's Day storm when free access was given to everyone, the model guidance pages and information at that time was very well organized.
