How did you find Storm2K?

I was part of the mass exodus from GoPBI when they changed the format in early September.

I used to access Storm98 and Storm99 from a computer lab at the state college in the town I lived in, in Massachusetts, prior to getting internet access at home.

I spent some time at GoPBI and joined TWC Boards & Forums on June 22nd, 2002. I was, actually still am

very glad to meet a lot of people interested in meteorology to some degree [no pun intended,

] and discuss other issues.

I became a member of Storm2K on the second day of it's existence... Thursday, October 9th, 2002; but didn't begin posting until Wednesday, February 5th, 2003 and even more so during the spring and summer.

I found it through a link posted at Gopbi---was glad to find a more mature and friendly board with no trolls and its "greatone" free

How did I arrive at Storm2k??........A little history.

I first joined the Inet via dialup in 1997. Being a weather freak I was in heaven

Wow I thought!!! The SPC, TPC, and IWIN! This was great. Being a tropical weather fanatic I searched for different sites. Low and behold I stumbled across GoPBI's Storm 97 sponsered by Lowes.

I soon learned that I was not a freak and many many people thought like me and loved weather!!!!!

Soon it was Storm 98 and 99. Over the 3 years I met many friends. Hashed with Derecho in 98. Met Ticka in 98. I remember the old crew from 97-98.

99......the flame wars began in ernest! Barometer Bob broke away to from the Hurricane Hollow board with Jim Williams.

At that point I bounced between GoPBi and Hurricane Hollow. This was a great change from the flame wars.

Next up was storm2k. Many of us GoPBi poster had enough of the trolls, impersonators, and attacks. GoPBi admins refused to resolve the issue.

ENOUGH was ENOUGH and Storm2k was formed!!!!! It was about time!

Storm2k has taken the tropical weather/weather sites by storm

It is a great place to post, learn and meet more friends.

This place is my second family. Sure I will post at GoBPi again next year and ignore the flame wars. GoPBi is where I began on the Inet. It has history thus ends my history on how I ended up at Storm2k.

I found it right before WWBB went down the last time. I wanted a backup to a weather BB and when I found this one I could not believe how quiet it was here. I actually prefer S2K over WWBB BUT, the met like DT always post there. I visit each equally now. When I don't want to feel like a weenie I post here :lol:

When I want to get yelled at I post at WWBB :wink:

Started in Storm97 m'self, didn't post a word the first 3 months - just read and read and read - making sure y'all weren't a buncha nuts - :eek:

I've known many members since Storm98 or so (at GoPBI).

I stumbled onto WWBB during March or April of 2001. And I ran into Ticka there, and kept up the contact form Storm98. She invited me to the previous Storm2K site and I just followed it here.
