Update on my mom
It appears that the end is near for my mom. She is unable to feed herself without help and is in pain that is being treated with morphine. She is sleeping more every day than the day before. This morning when I went to see her, my older sister, my youngest sister and her husband, my niece and one of my cousins were there. We talked together for a few minutes and we all agreed that the end is near for her. I realize that I can not stop these two diseases, liver failure and congestive heart failure and it is somethhing I wish I could. All I ask for are prayers that if she goes before the New Year, please let it be a painless passing. I will keep this updated as much as I can.
Update: As of 12;30 pm on Dec 31, 2003; my mother passed away in peace. Burial was delayed until Jan 6, 2004 due to my brother having to fly home from Calif where he lives. Her funeral was well attended by friends, family and former neighbors of long ago. Her high school class, Summerlin Institute Class of 1949 sent a very nice arrangement of flowers. My youngest sister's ex-boss sent a big arrangement also.
I want to thank all of you who posted , here and in the Off Topic forum, for your prayers and support in this sorrowful time for me.

Daylilly, my thoughts and prayers are with your Mom, you and the rest of the family. If it is her time, may the passing be peaceful and quick for her and for everyone else. If it is not her time I pray for a miracle of healing and direction from the Lord straight to the doctors who are treating her. May the Good Lord bring you his peace and comfort immediately.

Daylily Dawn...your screen name seems so appropriate at this time. It is full of hope and light...and my thoughts and prayers from here in Phoenix are nothing less than of hope and light, too. Watching your mother pass through her final days and hours is no easy time...but being there with her is a wonderful gift.
I visited a co-worker who was in his last hours on this earth...dying from lung failure. He was breathing so hard..his heart seemed to pound from his chest. He was responding to nothing.
But when I bent over to say goodbye to him, I said, "Ralph, you know we love you..." and he managed to nod as to say "Yes, I know" as I left the room.
Mother knows that too. May God hold you and your family close to Him in the days to come.

Daylilly, I am so very sorry to hear this is. Rest assured when she's ready, Jesus will take her hand and lead her across the Jordan and will walk her down the golden streets of heaven and begin to build a house for you and your family in the place that knows no pain, no sorrow and she will be waiting for you with open arms when that glorious day of our Saviors return for the rest of eternity! May God touch your hearts and give you the peace that you so desperatly need in this time of great sorrow.
