What are your NY Eve plans and or traditions?

#1 Postby furluvcats » Tue Dec 30, 2003 9:49 am

Happy New Year , early.

We're playing it festive this year, and safe! Brian works at the casino til 10pm, but our friends are picking me up in a limo, and taking us to a ball at Brian's casino, where we have a table for eight, filled with 6 of our most favorite friends! We'll have dinner there, and then Harry Connick, SR, is performing in the ballroom until the ball drops. We'll then go to our favorite haunt, where the rest of all of our friends will be waiting and partying. Both parties are black tie, and thats always fun! Nobody loves dressing up, more than me! :) The limo will stay with us, and safely drive us all whereever we choose to go. Nightclubs are open til 6am in Shreveport, so it'll no doubt be a late one, and then we've all arranged a late/early breakfast, and also have a hotel suite at one of the casinos waiting for us. So, we will celebrate, hopefully in moderation, but we'll also be safe, with chauffeur and hotel!

The kids will be spending the night at a friends, and lighting off fireworks, and we'll collect them later New Years day...and we do no not have a traditional New Years Day meal planned....

What are your plans?

Every New Years, we eat ham and black-eye peas.

Once called "Confederate Thanksgiving" it recalls the fact that, after Sherman's arsonous march from Tennessee through Atlanta to Savannah, all that was left for the Southern populace to eat were hams and black-eye peas (only because the Union soldiers didn't recognize them as a "crop"). :grrr:

Furry - that sounds like so much fun! I like to get all decked out myself.

I have no plans for this NYE. I'm working all day tomorrow, so I'll look forward to leaving Atlantic City and relaxing at home.

I plan to stay in....stoke up the fireplace...sit back and chill. Perhaps a mudslide or 2 followed by some bubbly at midnight (if we make it that far) Then its bedtime.

Fur....I don't think I could run with you! :)

My wife and I are going to our friends' house, where we will be playing games and eating/drinking with probably 6 to 10 other people. Should be fun! :)

I do make a fine mudslide if I do say so myself, although mine aren't those sissy types they give you in the restaurants. The trick is lots of finely crushed ice and a good quality bar blender if you have one.

Me thinks I might have to get an early start tonight!

 Nah, seriously, I'm not great but my best friend and her fiance taught me everything I know about billiards. I have my good days and my bad. I still surprise myself sometimes when I make a shot that I'm not really certain about. I wear glasses and have poor depth perception.

Hey fur...I'm with you on the ice cream slides. However ...shortly after disovering the infamous Mudslide...I hit up a bartender at a restaurant to find out what kind of ice cream they were putting in it. He said it was something called "Island Oasis". I have never been able to find it.

Anyway Fur....you heard the rules...you have to beat the host at a game of 8 ball. I'm definitely NOT too old to whip your butt!

No comment from you Ticka!

Island Oasis is a bar mix that bars use in their frozen drinks :) Its bought from a distributor.
No doubt you could beat me at pool...I don't play :). Being evasive on the candle/spanking thing?
