Some Lessons from Storm2k in 2003

#1 Postby azskyman » Tue Dec 30, 2003 10:50 pm

Here are some things we together may have learned on Storm2k in 2003.

1) People can hold hands for comfort even when they are more than 2000 miles away.
2) Storm2k'rs are fascinated by scary weather, but they don't like being in jeapordy while they are part of it.
3) Keyboards can type words that hurt, words that comfort, words that can be misinterpreted, and words that will get you banned. They can also type words that bring you back the next day.
4) Fairness is sometimes hard to apply...and is different from one person to the next. Still, consistent treatment of others is a hallmark of Storm2k.
5) Good friendships grow out of trust, and Storm2k is a breeding ground for trusting relationships that really do matter.
6) Too much of a good thing can still be too much. We need to keep Storm2k as part of our lives, not the center of our lives.
7)Our members are generous in spirit and in deed.
8) When we need to say we are sorry, we do. Our place here is important to us, and we do not want to lose our sense of belonging.
9) Storm2k is a place where young and old, democrat and republican, men and women, boys and girls, can feel safe and enjoy the company of others. We self police ourselves because we respect the value of this website.
10) Our passions can turn to frustration, anger, or words that are best left unsaid. Still, being passionate about our beliefs and our board is part of its appeal. We find ways to smooth the roughest roads.
11) When in the company of many, our beliefs and opinions may not always be the same. We have plenty of folks who help us maneuver the course when these things come up and tempers flare.
12) We have been able to grow because of who we are, not because of what people try to make us to be.
13) Committed leadership is critical to our mission. We have committed leaders who put the rest of us ahead of themselves. A rare commodity online.
14) The need for prayer and good thoughts gets real and serious attention.
15) Humor can take many forms...and is an important component of Storm2k's lasting camaraderie.

Again, as always, I am humbled and chastened by your wisdom, insight and compassion.

You are truly Storm2K's "sage", if ever we had one.

Yes, I have learned all that, and so much more!! I am finally taking that turn in life from being just another young girl to developing myself as a young woman, and your words have most certainly helped inspire me Poppysky!! So, cheers to our friendship and the end of 2003, and here's to another year of excitement in 2004!!
