I did my good deed for my weight loss this afternoon :) . I rode my bike to the freeway and back, which according to Mapquest is a 5 mile or so round trip (I lack one of those trip odometer thingies :( ). Did it once last week too. But we had the Santa Ana winds today so I had more resistance to fight through.

LOL Josh, I have an exercise bike in my room, it is old, but it still tells me miles and works so it is good enough for me! I "try" to get on it and at least do something every day!!

BTW, dropped another 1.5 lbs! :D

Good job on losing Jacki! :) Keep it up!

I need to get one of those thingies for my bike (whatever they are called). It would help me see how far I am going and also if I am speeding  .

I actually had one of those digital odometers that also had a speedometer mode on it, too. I only rode my bike on the street I lived on in Massachusetts, it was a cul-de-sac; either a combination of my parents not wanting me to and/or me not wanting to go on the street perpendicular or to where I lived and further.

What the heck is the SBD? South Beach Diet? Never Heaerd of it, but I sure could handle joining this crew. I am going for losing 20# by March 1st. 10% of my body weight and do not want to drop too quickly. Besides, I have been working out at the gym and muscle mass weighs more than the fat I'll be burning, so it will be harder to track the actual fat weight I'll be losing.

Jumping back into the exercising and better eating habits routine....starting on Monday.

Feeling really sluggish - no workouts last week...also coming down with a cold or allergies...so need to get back in the grove...

Here's to 2004 - and new expectations..

According to my scale, I have lost 5 1/2 lbs ... must be due to the fact that I have barely eaten anything in almost four days now.

I've eaten way too much over the past week to 10 days.

I've lost 20 pounds from late 2002 to this past summer, and I think I've gained back about 5 pounds just this past month alone, I really need to cutback and exercise more to balance the over eating during the holidays.

South Beach Diet is somewhat like Aitkins except it"s in 3 phases, the first phase to kick the sweet cravings& carbs,(breads ect.)the second &third phase is to reintroduce you to foods. I barely got thru the first phase alive, but if you follow the book most ppl. lose up to 8lbs the first week. The book is about $18 at wally world, and it has a lot of good receipes, but your library would have it also.

Yep!! It'll do that! :D Water is my miracle!! Course I'm a thirsty girl, I couldnt afford to drink as much pop as I would if I didnt have at least 4 good size glasses of water a day....now about exercise!

Lake Effect, I don't know if I could do either of those diets!! In a way I do follow a lot of the rules, but mine (just a diabetic diet- my mom's) is more about calorie counting then carbs! I love my carbs!! LOL< they may be the enemy but tell that to the weight I have lost!! And I know how you feel- my first week of eating no fast food or chocolate certainly almost did me in! (Oh, which I should mention, I didn't weigh myself in the very first week because I hadn't bought my scale yet, so I've probably lost a few more pounds than I know!) Trust me, as bad as it sucks, when you step on that scale and see that smaller number it's impossible to have a bad day! :D So let's do it girls (and guys)!! Let's make ourselves irresistible, y'all in?!

I have read that you should not even look at a scale when losing weight, because you should go by how your clothes fit.( I guess sweat pants are not a good idea)??but I want numbers, so I do peek every now & then, but the reasoning is alot of times you will lose inches instead of weight. maybe you would want to post some tips or receipes ,here or the kitchen?? I have a few from sbd book if any one is intrested??? how about you Ticka, got tips to share???
